Gattis will start at catcher and bat fifth Wednesday against Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
This was expected, as Jason Castro played 13 innings behind the plate Tuesday and Gattis caught Collin McHugh's last start. The 29-year-old is heating up offensively, hitting .333 with three home runs over the last week.

Gattis is likely to catch Wednesday's game against Baltimore after Jason Castro logged 13 innings behind the plate in Tuesday's series opener, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Not only that, but Collin McHugh will be on the bump for Wednesday's game and Gattis caught him during his last start against the White Sox. For those keeping track for fantasy purposes, it would be his second appearance at the position this season.

Gattis went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis' fourth bomb of the year came in the sixth inning when the game was already out of reach for the Astros. He's now homered in three of his last six games to raise his slugging percentage to a season-high .430.

Gattis, playing catcher for the first time in 2016, went 2-for-3 with a solo homer off White Sox ace Chris Sale in Thursday's 2-1 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Unfortunately (from a team standpoint), he accounted for half the Astros' baserunners and all their runs with those two hits. Nonetheless, it's impressive to see Gattis do this well against such a great pitcher one day after striking out four times. The glass-half-full view holds that he's got five hits, including two homers, in the last three games; the glass-half-empty view reminds us that he's still hitting only .237 (which is not far off his ceiling) with just three homers in 23 games. That said, logic tells us the power will come around, and that'll certainly play at the catcher position if or when he gains eligibility.

Gattis went 1-for-5 with a single and four strikeouts against the White Sox on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros still won, but after their DH showed promising signs with a homer and two walks Tuesday, he was back on the struggle bus in this one. Gattis has never been known for high batting average, but his current .219 is still easily a career low; meanwhile, his power hasn't shown up either after a season-opening DL stint and a quick trip the minors earlier this month. The potential for 20-plus homers to go with catcher eligibility is exciting, but Gattis still hasn't made an appearance behind the plate and owns just two homers in 73 at-bats.

Gattis hit his second home run, a two-run game-winning blast in extra innings Tuesday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis made his return to the lineup as the designated hitter and walked twice in addition to the clutch home run. He is hitting just .221/.289/.368 but still has big-time power. Gattis is making his return from a minor league stint specifically to get him reps as a catcher. If he gets regular playing time behind the plate, he'll become a much more interesting fantasy value.

Gattis will catch for the Astros on Thursday, Angel Verdejo Jr. of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
After having Gattis catch four games for the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks and several bullpen sessions, the Astros are now ready to deploy Gattis behind the plate in a major league game. Gattis last caught a game in the majors back in September of 2014. Regaining catcher eligibility would certainly help Gattis' cause in the fantasy game, but he's done little of note with the bat so far this season, going 13-for-64 (.203 average) with one home run.

Gattis was recalled form Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis was sent down to get some games under his belt behind the plate, and it appears the Astros are satisfied enough for him to rejoin the club. The Houston Chronicle's Jake Kaplan reports that while Gattis will not catch Tuesday, he's expected to do so at some point during the series with the White Sox.

Gattis was optioned to Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday to get reps at catcher, the Houston Chronicle's Jake Kaplan
EDGE Analysis
The Astros need all the help they can get in terms of offensive production behind the plate, and while Gattis has never been mistaken for a solid defensive catcher, the team must think he can be a net positive catching a few times each week. This will greatly increase his value in most formats, as catcher eligibility moves him from fringe option to a potentially above average option at a scarce position. Of course, he'll have to show the Astros he can still catch, but if everything goes according to plan, he could be up later this month splitting time between catcher and DH. Tony Sipp should be off the paternity list Saturday as a corresponding move.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch is still hopeful to get Gattis time behind the plate as the two continue working drills, Angel Verdejo Jr. of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
"Having not played a position for as long, especially that position, I'm very cautious about (playing him there)," Hinch said of Gattis' past experience playing catcher. Ideally, the 29-year-old could get reps at the position in games that are blowouts, but Hinch still hasn't used him behind the plate this season.
