Santana started in center field and went 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Reds.
Santana was a last-second replacement in center field after Shane Robinson was scratched from the lineup due to an illness. It's not clear if Santana will continue to get starts in center field this week, but he may not be on the roster long with Aaron Hicks likely to return from the DL in the next week.

Santana was a late add to the Twins' lineup Tuesday, the Star Tribune's LaVelle Neal reports.
Shane Robinson was a late scratch and Santana took his place in left field, batting eighth. The change happened after most daily lineups locked, so in many cases owners may have been stuck with Santana out of their lineups.

Santana is out of the lineup Tuesday in Cincinnati, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
After starting three straight games at shortstop, Santana will give way to Eduardo Nunez on Tuesday. The injury to Byron Buxton (thumb) has led to Eduardo Escobar playing more left field, in turn freeing up more at-bats for Santana at shortstop. With Aaron Hicks (forearm) now nearing a return, Santana may find those at-bats harder to come by.

Santana took fly balls in the outfield before Friday's game and manager Paul Molitor said he may be used in centerfield, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Santana flew out as a pinch hitter but didn't play in the field in Friday's loss to Milwaukee. The Twins had said earlier in the season that Santana would move to shortstop, but his struggles in the field and at the plate this season as well as Byron Buxton's injury, could see him move back to centerfield while Buxton is out. However, Santana's time in centerfield could be short with Aaron Hicks likely to return from the DL shortly after starting a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester.

Santana was recalled from Triple-A Rochester before Friday's game at Milwaukee.
He was hitting .308/.343/.492 in 15 games since he was demoted to Triple-A Rochester. Santana drew four walks in Triple-A compared to just two in 188 place appearances in the majors this year, so he's showing some signs of progress with his plate discipline. It's not clear if Santana will return to being the everyday shortstop or work in a utility role. It's also possible he could move to center field with Byron Buxton on the DL with a thumb injury.

Santana has drawn four walks in Triple-A compared to just two in 188 place appearances in the majors this year, so he's showing some signs of progress with his plate discipline. It's possible he could be called up Friday with the Twins sending a reliever to the minors Wednesday with no announcement of a replacement. However, the Twins appear happy with Eduardo Escobar at shortstop, so it's not clear if Santana would immediately get a starting job if recalled.

Santana was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Santana began losing starts recently, and his current slump at the plate (1-for-19 in his last seven games) appears too much to overcome. The Twins finally decided to return him to Triple-A on Sunday, recalling Kennys Vargas to replace him on the 25-man roster.

Santana is in Saturday's starting lineup at shortstop and hitting ninth after he was out of the lineup the past two games, Fox Sports North reports.
Santana got two days off amid a 1-for-16 slump that lowered his batting average to .221. While he has made just one error in the field in his last 12 games, his struggles at the plate and woes in the field could soon have the Twins thinking of sending him to the minors.

Santana is out of the lineup Thursday, the Star Tribune's Phil Miller reports.
Santana is getting on base at just a .239 clip, so he is not doing a good job of making himself a staple in the Twins' lineup. Eduardo Escobar gets the start at shortstop Thursday.

Santana is out of the lineup Monday against the Red Sox, Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North reports.
Santana's absence Monday marks his second straight absence following a 1-for-16 stretch at the plate over the previous four games. Eduardo Escobar will start at shortstop in his place, batting sixth for the Twins.
