Royals activated LHP Danny Duffy from the 60-day disabled list.
Duffy posted a 3.90 ERA in six starts with the Royals this season prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery in June. The 23-year-old southpaw will likely be sidelined until around midseason next year, but still has plenty of promise left.

Danny Duffy underwent successful Tommy John surgery Wednesday.
Duffy has been out since mid-May, but the procedure had been delayed because he had strep throat. He'll likely be sidelined until around the All-Star break next season.

Dr. Lewis Yocum confirmed that Danny Duffy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Yocum confirmed the initial diagnosis by Royals head physician Dr. Key. Duffy will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in Los Angeles within the next two weeks and figures to miss the early part of the 2013 campaign. It's disappointing given the improvement he showed this season, but there's still plenty of promise here in the long-term.

Danny Duffy (elbow) will return to Kansas City Sunday night to undergo an MRI.
Duffy left his start Sunday in the first inning with "medial left elbow tightness." "I came out and [he said] 'I'm all right, I can pitch through it,' but as soon as he said it was in [his] elbow, I said that's it," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "We need to get that checked and see what's going on there, and go from there." The 23-year-old lefty had a start skipped last month due to elbow tightness and this ailment is being described as similar to that. Stay tuned.

Royals manager Ned Yost described the injury that forced Danny Duffy from Sunday's start as "medial left elbow tightness."
It's a concern because the young left-hander had to have a start skipped last month due to elbow tightness and this ailment is being described as similar to that. The 23-year-old lefty has been inconsistent all season, but he entered play on Sunday 2-2 with a 4.00 ERA and solid 9.0 K/9. Monitor his status as you make your lineup decisions for the coming week.

Danny Duffy turned in a solid performance in a win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two runs on six hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.
Duffy struck out six and walked two in his return to the Royals rotation. He had been skipped his last time through the rotation with a bit of elbow soreness, but seemed pain free in this outing and didn't complain of any soreness afterwards. He's now 2-2 on the season with a 3.57 ERA through his first four starts. He'll attempt to carry over the momentum from this start when he takes on the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Danny Duffy (elbow) is on track to start next Wednesday in Detroit.
Duffy had his Friday start skipped, but it appears his elbow is no longer bothering him and the team is just being extra cautious. "(Duffy) woke up (Thursday) morning, for the first time, and didn't feel anything," manager Ned Yost said. "So we're on the right track. He'll make his start in Detroit. It's gone now. He could pitch, but why? You don't want to baby him, but it's just crazy to push this." Everett Teaford will make a spot start in Duffy's place against the Twins.

Danny Duffy will be skipped on his next turn through the Royals' rotation due to elbow tightness.
The Royals don't believe the ailment to be serious, but they're not going to take any chances with their 23-year-old left-hander. Everett Teaford seems likely to fill in Friday against the Twins. Duffy has a 3.63 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB ratio in 17 1/3 innings this season.

Danny Duffy pitched well in a loss to the Tigers Monday, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6 2/3 innings.
Duffy gave up a couple homers and was outdone by Justin Verlander, but he was impressive for most of the evening, just as he was in his first start. There's some risk, but also plenty of fantasy upside here. Duffy needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues. He'll take on the Blue Jays next.
