Danny Duffy was a tough-luck loser Thursday, striking out six in six innings while allowing just two runs on four hits and a walk in a loss to the Tigers.
Though his won-loss record won't show it, Duffy has really pitched well of late, boasting a 23/4 K/BB ratio over his last four starts. He still gets into too many deep counts, which has kept him from pitching late into games, but the upside here is obvious. He's a worthy spot starter in mixed formats despite a 4.85 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.

Danny Duffy had a night to forget in Coors Field on Friday, allowing five runs on nine hits and two home runs in Kansas City's 9-0 loss.
Duffy struck out six and walked one in falling to 1-3. A disappointing night on the heels of his excellent start against the Cubs, but hardly surprising for a rookie hurler in Colorado. His first chance to bounce-back should come on Thursday against the Tigers.

Royals manager Ned Yost announced Monday that he will use six starts in order to keep rookie left-hander Danny Duffy in the starting rotation.
Duffy appeared bound for the minors, but he apparently bought himself some time by allowing two runs over seven innings against the Cubs on Saturday. The southpaw is now slated to toe the rubber Friday against the Rockies while Kyle Davies will return from the disabled list to start Saturday.

Danny Duffy (calf cramp) is fully expected to make his next scheduled start.
Duffy made an early exit from Sunday's game against the Cardinals after feeling some tightness in his left calf. He called that decision a precautionary measure and will prepare as normal for his next outing against the Cubs. The rookie left-hander is sporting a 5.03 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in 34 innings this season.

Danny Duffy suffered a cramp in his left calf during Sunday's start.
He was removed in the fourth inning after having already struck out nine batters. Duffy allowed two runs on six hits and a walk in 3 2/3 innings. The injury doesn't sound serious, so we'd be surprised if Duffy is forced to miss a start.

Danny Duffy left Sunday's start against the Cardinals in the fourth inning with an apparent leg injury.
Duffy retired only 11 batters before exiting, but he managed to get nine of them to go down on strikeouts. Of course, he also allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while throwing 90 pitches in 3 2/3 innings. We'll update his status when more is known.
