Anderson threw five innings in his 2015 debut, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out six. He didn't factor in the decision.
A good start for Anderson, although he wasn't very efficient with his pitches as he needed 94 pitches to get through five innings. Anderson is coming off a good season in 2014, which saw his strike out more than 8 K/9 and post a 4.01 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. He is a candidate to take a step forward this year if he can lower his walks and homeruns allowed.

Anderson will start Friday against the Dodgers, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
The Diamondbacks named Anderson to the starting rotation last week, but it wasn't entirely clear would he would slot in. Manager Chip Hale announced that Anderson will occupy the No. 4 spot, between Jeremy Hellickson and Archie Bradley. Anderson has held Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez, the Dodgers' No. 2 and 3 hitters, to three hits in 12 at-bats so far in his career, but two of those hits have left the yard.

Anderson has earned a rotation spot to start the season, according to AZ Central. Whether he or Trevor Cahill will slot into the fourth or fifth spots in the rotation remains to be seen.
Anderson made 21 below average starts last year for the DBacks, registering a 4.01 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 4.28 FIP. His strikeout rate of 8.3 K/9 was pretty good and he got more groundball outs than fly outs, so he could see some improvement if he could drop his walk rate down below 3 BB/9. He will be hard to trust in shallow and mixed leagues until he shows improvement.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale has intimated that Anderson is in position to claim a rotation spot, The Arizona Republic reports.
The same goes for Trevor Cahill, so while nothing is yet certain, it seems the Diamondbacks may have a whole host of pitchers competing for just one spot. Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson entered spring training as locks, leaving Cahill and Anderson as the likely third and fourth options in the rotation. Assuming Cahill and Anderson do in fact solidify their spots, the likes of Robbie Ray, Rubby De La Rosa, Allen Webster and Randall Delgado will all be left to fight for the fifth and final spot.

Anderson may have an inside track to begin the season in the Diamondbacks' rotation, the Arizona Republic reports. "Chase Anderson won nine games for us last year; you have to strongly consider him as part of our rotation," general manager Dave Stewart said. "When you look at those three guys, those have to be guys you strongly consider."
There is a long list of candidates in the mix for a spot behind Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson, who appears to be the only two locks to begin the year with starting roles. Durability has been an issue throughout Anderson's time as a member of the D-backs' organization, but his debut last season included a 21.6% K% and 3.67 xFIP over 114.1 innings. Anderson's change up is easily his best offering, but he'll need to find a way to improve the effectiveness of his fastball in order to have long-term success as a big league starter.

Anderson (9-7) was beat up by Rockies hitting on Friday night as he gave six runs on nine hits over five innings, as he notched five strikeouts in the loss.
In a game where the Rockies scored 15 runs, Anderson can count himself lucky that he only allowed six runs. It just wasn't his night as his ERA jumped up over 4.00 mark for the first time since May 28. Friday was Anderson's last start of the season after tossing over 150 innings on the year between the minors and majors.

Anderson's start on Friday will be his last of the season, the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports.
He has pitched 148.1 innings between Double-A and the big leagues this season, so with Friday's start likely to give him 150 innings for the first time in his professional career, the Diamondbacks will shut him down. He posted a 3.70 ERA and a 21.7 percent K-rate to go with an 8.2 percent walk rate, so if he is able to land a spot in Arizona's rotation next season, he could be a sneaky draft pick in deeper leagues. The Diamondbacks were using a six-man rotation, so nobody will need to replace him for what would have been his final start on Aug. 26, everyone else will simply move up a day.

Anderson gave up two runs and four hits in six innings, striking out six and walking none in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Anderson pitched a superb game Saturday. His only mistake was in the first inning, when he gave up a two-run shot to Adrian Gonzalez. After the first, he settled down and allowed only an infield single to Dee Gordon while shutting down the rest of the Dodgers through the sixth inning.
