Contrary to a previous report, McCann (toe) will not need X-rays, but he has been ruled out for Wednesday's game, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees said manager Joe Girardi misspoke when he said McCann would need X-rays. McCann apparently had a fluoroscope test in his left foot that was negative, and the team is comfortable with those results, showing the injury was just a bruise. For now it sounds like McCann is day-to-day (with the understanding he won't play Wednesday). Andrew Romine will start at catcher Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

McCann went for X-rays on his toe after Tuesday's win against the Blue Jays, and he will not be available for Wednesday's game, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
EDGE Analysis
He fouled a ball off his toe in Tuesday's game and was replaced by Andrew Romine, who will get the start Wednesday with McCann set to miss at least one game due to the injury. The results of the X-rays should be available Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, and hopefully it is just a minor malady that won't cause McCann to go on the disabled list. If he does have to miss significant time, however, slugging catching prospect Gary Sanchez would likely get the call and take on a prominent role.

McCann is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers, according to Newsday's Erik Boland.
EDGE Analysis
McCann opened the season on a hot streak with five hits over his first three games, but he will get a day off after staring behind the plate the previous three days. Austin Romine will serve as the Yankees' catcher Friday in McCann's place.

McCann hit his first home run of the year as part of a 2-for-4 effort Thursday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop looks like he's in midseason form already, showing strong plate discipline (2:2 BB:K so far) and clearing that Yankee Stadium right-field fence on a 340-foot fly ball. With a day game in Detroit on Friday following this late-afternoon contest, it's possible McCann will get his first rest of the year, so check back before deploying him.

McCann will bat fifth in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
McCann has found early success thus far, hitting .429/.556/.571 with two RBI in two games. He will look to continue his hot start in favorable matchup with Astros' righty Mike Fiers.

McCann went 2-for-4 with a two-run double, a walk and three runs scored in a 16-6 win over the Astros on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Pretty much everyone on the Yankees got in on this party, making up for Tuesday's season-opening loss. After he hit a career-high 26 homers with a career-high-tying 94 RBI last year, McCann was naturally one of the first catchers off the board this season, and it seems likely that we can expect another campaign of strong power and unhelpful batting average from him.

McCann moves up to fifth in the batting order Wednesday against the Astros, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann swaps spots in the batting order with Carlos Beltran from Tuesday. Beltran hit righties better than McCann last season, which means there's probably not too much to read into this decision.

McCann went 1-for-3 in Friday's Grapefruit League action.
EDGE Analysis
McCann took a pitch to the kneecap earlier in the week and missed a few days as a result, but the catcher appears to be fine now. The ailment seems to have been a minor one, so the 32-year-old should be back to his normal spring schedule.

McCann was removed from Sunday's Grapefruit League game after he was hit above the kneecap on a CC Sabathia pitch, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi relayed that McCann left the contest because his knee stiffened, but the catcher is expected to be OK. Despite Girardi's optimism, McCann will likely fit in a few-day respite in order to avoid the injury lingering into the latter stages of the spring.

McCann is not in the lineup for Saturday's Game 1 of a double header against the Orioles, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will be McCann's third missed start in the last five games, but it's likely no big deal. The Yankees have clinched the playoff and likely don't want to use their starting catcher for two games in one day. John Ryan Murphy will get the start at catcher, batting sixth.
