McCann reached base four times Friday, going 1-for-1 with two walks and a hit by pitch in the loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
McCann has slumped a bit in September, hitting just .219 in the month with only one home run since Sept. 6. He's still enjoying one of the best campaigns of his career though, as his 26 long balls are already a career best and three more RBI will match his highest total in that department.

New York Yankees catcher Brian McCann is in the lineup Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays after being out of the lineup the last two games because of a knee injury, according to the team's official website. McCann sustained the injury Tuesday while attempting to block a ball in the dirt, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the team was not worried that he would need to miss extended time. “If I needed to I could have caught Mac [Wednesday] night," Girardi told the New York Post. “He is really day-to-day. We don’t anticipate it will be too long as of right now. The way he felt [Thursday] we were encouraged by it. We will look at [Friday] or [Saturday]." McCann was able to pinch-hit Wednesday but flew out with runners on first and second to end the game. John Ryan Murphy will return to a backup role upon McCann's return.

New York Yankees catcher Brian McCann is not in the lineup for the second consecutive game Thursday against the Boston Red Sox because of a knee injury, according to the team's official website. McCann was expected to receive a few days off after an MRI revealed the issue Wednesday, but he could be close to a return, as he was able to pinch-hit Wednesday. “He told me he was OK to hit. I wasn’t going to catch him in that situation,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi told the New York Daily News. “But he told me he could hit and he’d had some success against [Boston closer Koji] Uehara. Didi (Gregorius) has never seen him, so I went with the guy who’d seen him before and understood what he’d try to do with him.” John Ryan Murphy, who had two hits in three at-bats Wednesday, will get his second consecutive start in McCann's absence.

McCann launched his 14th home run of the season, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Sunday's win over the Red Sox.
McCann has hit a bit of a slump in July, posting a .207 average in the month, but he'll enter the All-Star break on pace to have his best all around season since 2011. His 14 homers and 55 RBI both rank second among all catchers, as he figures to once again be one of the top backstops in the season's second half.
