Mets prospect outfielder Brandon Nimmo has been promoted to Double-A Binghamton, as was reported by Jon Santucci. The former first round pick floundered somewhat in 2012 and 2013, but has come alive in 2014, hitting a sparkling .322/.448/.458 with nine doubles, five triples, and four home runs. It will be interesting to see how Nimmo's patient batting approach will sink or swim with the more advanced pitching in the Eastern League.

Nimmo is hitting .332/.456/.469 for the season, and he should be back in games early next week after a few days off.

Mets prospect OF Brandon Nimmo had a big game on Thursday for High-A St. Lucie, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two walks. Nimmo projects to hit for at least average power at maturity, but so far it's mostly come in the form of doubles and triples. He'll likely require at least two more seasons to refine his game in the minor leagues, but his development of consistent in-game power could potentially have him in the major leagues by the end of the 2015 season.

Mets outfield prospect Brandon Nimmo will likely open 2014 with High-A St. Lucie. Nimmo was solid but not spectacular during his first full season of professional baseball, putting up a .273/.397/.359 line with two home runs and 16 doubles. After going 3-for-7 with three singles and a walk during spring training, Nimmo could have a breakout year in the often pitching-friendly Florida State League. Keep an eye on Nimmo as someone who could come up by the end of 2015, as the Mets outfield could use the help.

The Mets invited prospect Brandon Nimmo to major league spring training. This comes as a bit of a surprise as the 20-year-old outfielder is coming off a somewhat disappointing 2013 campaign in which he slashed .273/.397/.359 with two homers, 40 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 110 games at Class-A Savannah. Perhaps the organization is trying to motivate to extremely talented youngster.
