Colome earned his 35th save in Thursday's 2-0 victory over the Yankees with 1.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless ball. He also uncorked a wild pitch.
EDGE Analysis
Although he didn't record any strikeouts, Colome needed only an efficient 12 pitches to dispose of Didi Gregorius, Ronaldo Torreyes, Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury. That stretch also included the leadoff single he surrendered to Aaron Hicks in the ninth, and his wild pitch that moved Hicks over to third with two out. However, Colome bore down to get Ellsbury to line out to center, ending the game. The 27-year-old closer has now rattled off seven straight scoreless efforts, notching saves in all of those appearances.

He allowed a lead-off single, but induced a ground out, foul out and line out in the next three batters to end the game. Colome is 34-for-36 in save chances with a 1.93 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 66 strikeouts in 51.1 innings pitched.

Colome allowed back-to-back one-out singles to put runners on the corners for the heart of the O's order. However, he escaped disaster by striking out Mark Trumbo looking, then Chris Davis swinging. The Rays' closer is now 33-for-35 in save chances this year and owns a 1.97 ERA to go along with 66 strikeouts over 50.1 innings.

He's been scored upon just once in his last 16 appearances, posting a 1.23 ERA and 20:3 K:BB in 14.2 innings over that impressive stretch. Colome should head into 2017 as one of the elite closing options on draft boards.

Colome now has 31 saves in 33 tries, an excellent conversion rate. His peripherals are supportive as well, with a 2.05 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 4:1 K:BB ratio. While the Rays are in last place in the AL East by a mile, Colome has been a terrific fantasy contributor in 2016, making the most of teammate Brad Boxberger's early injuries and cementing himself as one of the league's most reliable closers.

EDGE Analysis
The closer came on in relief after Enny Romero had given up three runs to close the Rays lead to 7-4. After Devon Travis moving to second on fielder's indifference, Jose Bautista was able to plate him with a single that was charged to Romero. Colome yielded another hit to Josh Donaldson, bringing Edwin Encarnacion to the plate as the tying run. However, he was able to get the veteran slugger to fly out to left to end the game, nailing down his ninth save in the last 10 chances.

Colome allowed a walk and a single but survived to throw a scoreless ninth for his 29th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the powerful Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Colome had runners on first and second when he struck out Boston catcher Sandy Leon on a 88 mph back-door slider for the final out. Colome imploded for his second blown save of the season in his last outing, coughing up home runs to the first two batters he faced, the second of which was a walk-off. Still, Colome has had a stellar 2016 campagin on the whole, with a 2.11 ERA and an impressive 60 strikeouts in 47 innings.

Colome (1-4) blew only his second save of the season in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Astros, giving up back-to-back homers to Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis in the ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
The normally reliable closer imploded after Mikie Mahtook had given the Rays a 4-3 lead in the top half of the frame with his first homer of the season. Colome has now blown two saves since July 23 after successfully converting his first 21 chances on the season. The hiccup Friday broke a streak of 11 consecutive scoreless appearances for the 27-year-old, who still sports a stellar 2.15 ERA and 58:14 K:BB on the season over 46 innings.

EDGE Analysis
With a runner on first and two outs in the eighth, manager Kevin Cash turned to Colome for the four-out save. He struck out former Rays outfielder Will Myers, but he actually reached on a passed ball, so Colome worked around that to retire the next batter before any damage could be done. Alex Dickerson led off the ninth with a single, and Colome hit the next batter to put the tying run on base, but the closer induced a ground ball double play and then a fly out to end the threat. Colome is now working on eight straight scoreless outings and has a 1.91 ERA and 1.02 WHIP this season.

The dominant closer received a rather unexpected save chance and helped tough-luck Chris Archer earn a rare win. Colome set down Danny Santana and Brian Dozier with two men on to close matters out, after Dylan Floro had given up a two-RBI single to Jorge Polanco and a subsequent hit to Kurt Suzuki. The 27-year-old has rattled off six straight scoreless outings after blowing his first save opportunity on July 23 against the A's.
