The normally reliable closer imploded after Mikie Mahtook had given the Rays a 4-3 lead in the top half of the frame with his first homer of the season. Colome has now blown two saves since July 23 after successfully converting his first 21 chances on the season. The hiccup Friday broke a streak of 11 consecutive scoreless appearances for the 27-year-old, who still sports a stellar 2.15 ERA and 58:14 K:BB on the season over 46 innings.
