Colome (biceps) is aiming to throw a bullpen session Sunday and return from the DL either Tuesday or Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With his stint retroactive to June 19, Colome could return from the DL just one week after he was formally placed on the DL. However, Colome will need to prove to the training staff that he's 100 percent in order to bypass a minor league rehab assignment. He has reportedly felt good playing catch in recent days and will get more long toss in Friday ahead of Sunday's bullpen.

Colome (biceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The move was made retroactive to June 19 as Colome had not appeared in a game since June 18 when he allowed three earned runs in .2 innings against the Giants. The Rays have diagnosed him with tendinitis in his right biceps and there is no timetable for his return at this point. With Brad Boxberger (oblique) also on the shelf, the Rays could go with a closer-by-committee approach until they can get to the All-Star break. Xavier Cedeno and Erasmo Ramirez would likely be the primary closing options while Colome and Boxberger are sidelined.

Colome issued a walk but didn't allow a run or a hit in his 19th save in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Colome is still perfect in save opportunities and extended his scoreless streak to 18 outings. He is currently pulling off the rare feat of owning an ERA (0.93) lower than his WHIP (1.00). Colome is striking out 11.9 batters per nine innings as he has taken extremely well to a move to the bullpen in this, his fourth major league season.

Colome secured his 18th save of the season in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Astros. He surrendered a hit and two walks over his one inning, while also fanning two batters.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays closer certainly kept it interesting, as he issued a free pass to pinch-hitter Tony Kemp and a one-out double to Marwin Gonzalez. An intentional walk of Jose Altuve then loaded the bases, before Colome was able to retire Colby Rasmus and Evan Gattis with a strikeout and groundout, respectively. The outing brought the 27-year-old reliever's ERA down to a stellar 0.96, and he now has 17 consecutive scoreless efforts dating back to May 1.

Colome earned his 17th save in a 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Arizona recorded two hits and a walk to begin the frame with Paul Goldschmidt coming to the plate, but Colome struck out Goldschmidt and then induced a ground ball double play to end the game. Despite the rocky appearance, Colome remains the Rays closer despite Brad Boxberger healthy again. Colome is 17-for-17 in save opportunities with a 1.00 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 35 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Colome picked up his 16th save with a clean inning in Monday's win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Colome continues to make his case to remain Tampa Bay's closer even after Brad Boxberger returns from his oblique injury. He is 16-for-16 in save opportunities and lowered his ERA to 1.04 with another scoreless inning Monday. His 34:6 K:BB is just as elite and he is inducing twice as many groundballs as flyballs. It's tough to find a hole in Colome's game right now as he continues to lock it down for the Rays.

Colome earned his 15th save of the season Sunday versus the Twins, striking out one in a spotless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Colome has been nothing short of superb this season, as he remains perfect in converting save opportunities and has a stellar 1.08 ERA to go with a 0.88 WHIP. With Brad Boxberger (oblique) on the disabled list again for an extended period of time, Colome is locked in as the Rays' closer and seems increasingly likely to hold onto the gig for the remainder of the year due to his excellent work thus far.

Colome faced two batters, striking out the second to record a one-out save in a 7-4 victory against the Twins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
After Joe Mauer singled to bring Minnesota within three runs, Colome struck out Brian Dozier to end the game. That improves Colome to 14-for-14 in save opportunities. Despite Brad Boxberger's return from the disabled list, Colome appears poised to hold onto the closer role in Tampa Bay. In addition to the perfect save mark, he has a 1-1 record, 1.13 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 24 innings.

Colome picked up the save after 1.2 innings of work Friday against the Twins, in which he allowed two hits and two walks while fanning three.
EDGE Analysis
Colome has been spectacular this season, and he lowered his ERA to a minuscule 1.14 with another scoreless effort. With Boxberger (left side muscle strain) in the DL, Colome's value should increase as long as he keeps converting his save opportunities. So far this season, he's gone 13-for-13 in that department.

Colome figures to be the Rays' closer for the foreseeable future after Brad Boxberger suffered a left side muscle strain Tuesday and appears to be headed for the DL.
EDGE Analysis
Boxberger was going to be eased back into the closer's role, but he could now be headed for another lengthy stay on the DL. Colome has been beyond excellent this season, sporting a 1.23 ERA and 29:4 K:BB in 22 innings while notching 12 saves.
