Wainwright picked up his league-leading 18th win of the season (tied with Johnny Cueto and Clayton Kershaw) as he allowed one run on six hits over eight innings while striking out eight against the Rockies on Friday.
After hitting a rough patch in August, Wainwright has turned things around in September throwing 23 innings and only giving up six earned runs in the process. Wainwright has only walked two hitters during those starts, while striking out 14 hitters. He takes the mound next Thursday against the Brewers.

Wainwright pitched a complete game, allowing one run on one walk and seven hits while striking out three in the Cardinals' 9-1 win over the Brewers on Sunday.
It is Wainwright's first complete game since May 20 and third of the year. It's also the fewest runs he's allowed since a shutout on July 27. His 5.17 ERA in August doesn't seem to be trending into September.

Wainwright pitched six innings Tuesday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on seven hits (including three home runs) and one walk while striking out three in the win.
Although he got the win, it was another sub-par outing for Wainwright, who has now allowed 16 runs (14 earned runs) in his last four starts (spanning 25 innings) as he pitches through a reported "dead arm." Wainwright still does have a stellar 2.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 153:46 K:BB ratio in 194 innings pitched this year. His next start is scheduled for Sunday on the road against the Brewers.

Wainwright admitted to "going through a dead arm phase" recently, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Wainwright has had a rough August (5.29 ERA), and it's possible a tired arm could be part of the cause. Wainwright does not seem concerned about his health and is unlikely to miss a start anytime soon, but both fantasy owners and the Cardinals have to hope he will get back on track as quickly as possible.

Wainwright had an off night Wednesday, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five against Pittsburgh.
Seven of the eight hits Wainwright allowed were singles but it was enough to get the job done for the Pirates.

Wainwright allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits, walking three and striking out two over six innings of a 4-3 loss to the Phillies on Friday night.
Another sub-par performance for Wainwright (15-8, 2.52 ERA) who has scuffled (for him) over his past seven starts - he was 3-3 with a 4.50 ERA over his six starts prior to this one. There was some indication things might be clicking later in this start so a turnaround could be in the cards when he takes on the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week.

Wainwright will start Friday against the Phillies, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
The Cardinals will take advantage of an off day and move Wainwright up to start Friday on normal rest, with Shelby Miller bumped back to Saturday. In doing so, the Cardinals will have their ace available to start next Wednesday's series finale against the division rival Pirates.

Wainwright allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) with five strikeouts and one walk over seven innings in Sunday's win over San Diego.
Wainwright labored through the fifth and sixth innings, but was otherwise strong in the winning decision. Though his overall numbers remain excellent, Wainwright hasn't been nearly as dominant in the second half of the season, recording a 4.50 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB ratio in six starts (38 innings) since the All-Star break. Up next is a road matchup against Philadelphia on Saturday.

Wainwright took the loss Tuesday, surrendering three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four in seven innings against Miami.
Wainwright was solid but but it wasn't enough as the Miami pitching staff shut out the Cardinals' hitters. He'll take a 2.34 ERA into his next start.

Wainwright posted a quality start in Thursday's outing against Boston, allowing two runs and seven hits in seven innings. He struck out seven batters, needing 122 pitches to record 21 outs.
Wainwright has been up-and down recently, failing to pitch six innings in two of his last four starts, including a seven-run dud in his previous outing. After a huge workload last season (276.2 innings, including the playoffs), it's possible that Wainwright is tiring a bit. On the other hand, the heavy workload from last year could mean nothing. He's not someone you want to sit on the bench anyway. In any event, he'll look to put up another solid stat line in his next start at Miami.
