Wainwright (abdomen) faced Cardinals' hitters Sunday during a live practice session, throwing around 35 pitches without issue, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Wainwright admitted after that he's probably not ready for games yet but is clearly getting closer as he's progressed through his rehab thus far with no setbacks. It could be near a week yet before Wainwright gets into a spring game.

Wainwright (abdomen) is expected a live bullpen session Sunday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Wainwright tossed a bullpen session Monday after an abdomen injury earlier in camp, and appears to be progressing towards a return. He should slot in as the Cardinals' ace once again in 2015, and it seems plausible he'll be ready for Opening Day.

Wainwright (abdomen) threw a bullpen session Monday, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports. He was only expected to miss a few days after suffering an abdominal strain last week and that ended up being the case. Wainwright is already going at a pretty fair discount in drafts based on the concerns surrounding the abdomen, but more notably the elbow issue he dealt with at the end of last season. It will be interesting to see how he progresses this spring against live hitters.

Wainwright was diagnosed with an abdominal strain and should only miss four to five days, KMOX Radio reports. General Manager John Mozeliak said it was the "best news we could have gotten." Which indicates the level of concern the Cardinals had regarding the injury. It's possible but unlikely that this affects Wainwrights opening day status. Fantasy owners should be able to go with the Cardinals' ace with the same confidence they had before.

Wainwright will be examined in St. Louis for abdominal soreness, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Wainwright was limited in his non-throwing workouts because of the pain and will see a specialist Thursday. Wainwright insisted that he had no soreness or pain in his arm and that throwing did not bring on the abdominal pain. Obviously there is some cause for concern if he needs to see a specialist but the fact that he can throw without pain is a bit of a silver lining.

Wainwright (elbow) is OK with having a limited workload during spring training, but he intends to handle a normal volume of innings once the regular season begins, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. After throwing a bullpen session Friday on the first day of camp for the team's pitchers and catchers, Wainwright is on the exact same schedule that he kept a year ago. At this point, his October elbow surgery appears to be a non-issue. Wainwright has been able to throw all of his pitches in bullpen sessions thus far, including a new cut fastball that he's been toying with. It remains to be seen if the Cards will actually scale back Wainwright's regular season innings as has been suggested during the winter, but short of putting him at the back end of the schedule for the Grapefruit League rotation, things appear to be business as usual for Wainwright as spring training begins.

Wainwright described his elbow as "fixed now" following late October surgery and expects to have no restrictions to start spring training, MLB.com reports. He started a throwing program the same time he did prior to last season, which saw him finish third in the NL Cy Young vote. Owners should be thrilled if the 33-year old can put up similar numbers again in 2015.

Wainwright has been playing catch and will likely be ready for spring training, MLB Network Radio reports. Wainwright had elbow surgery after the end of the Cardinals' season in October, and just started throwing again after eight weeks off. He was projected to be ready for spring training, so the news isn't exactly surprising but it's still encouraging to see that everything is progressing as expected for the 33-year-old.

Wainwright (elbow) should be able to resume throwing in eight weeks and is expected to be ready for spring training, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Just days after GM John Mozeliak said doctors had prescribed Wainwright rest, the Cards' ace underwent surgery to "trim" a piece of cartilage from his right elbow. Apparently, following a second opinion, it was determined surgery was the best way to address the issue. The belief is that Wainwright's elbow issues were the result of his massive workload over the past two seasons -- he's thrown 519.2 innings since the starts of 2013 -- and while he is expected to be ready to go come spring training, Mozeliak has said the team will be more deliberate in curtailing his workload next season.

Wainwright will undergo elbow surgery, Will Carroll of Bleacher Report reports. Wainwright was dealing with some elbow issues during the playoffs, but it didn't force him to miss any action and was cleared to have a normal offseason. The surgery will deal with a bone spur situation, normally a minor procedure, so he should be good to go before spring training.
