Wainwright (Achilles) had another successful throwing session off the mound on Monday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright felt good other than feeling somewhat weak in his calf. He indicated he'll have to pass some strength tests for his leg before he'll be able to return but it's looking more and more possible that Wainwright could return to the rotation before postseason play begins.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitching Adam Wainwright will begin playing catch from 120 feet this week as he continues to recover from an Achilles injury, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Wainwright, who had previously been throwing from 90 feet, will take another incremental step in his recovery from his April surgery. If his current timetable holds, he should be on track to resume mound work in early September, potentially putting him on tap for a late-season return. Because Wainwright would require extensive time to build up his arm strength to where he could throw at least 100 pitches in a start, the team seems more likely to bring him back in a relief role. Though he has not pitched out of the bullpen in quite some time, it is not unfamiliar territory for Wainwright, who was the team's closer during their 2006 World Series run.

Wainwright (Achilles) no longer requires the use of crutches and he believes there's a realistic chance he will pitch yet this season in September or October, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wainwright was believed to be out for the season when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in late April. There's a good chance the Cardinals will make the playoffs and if they do it sounds like Wainwright might be able to help. It's highly unlikely he provides any meaningful innings for fantasy owners this season, though.

Wainwright (Achilles) was placed on the 60-day DL Thursday.
This is just a bookkeeping move to open up a spot on the 40-man roster. Wainwright will miss 9-to-12 months as he recovers from what could be a career-altering Achilles injury.

Wainwright's surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon is scheduled for Thursday.
Wainwright will require 9-to-12 months to recover from the injury, ruling him out for the rest of the season, and quite possibly, the start of 2016. Tim Cooney, who was scratched from his scheduled start at Triple-A Memphis, is the leading candidate to fill in for Wainwright's first turn in the rotation Thursday against the Phillies, but it's unclear at this point if the Cardinals are viewing him as a permanent replacement.

General manager John Mozeliak indicated Monday that Wainright indeed suffered a torn Achilles and will miss 9-12 months, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
Wainwright suffered the injury while batting in Saturday's game against the Brewers, and it will cost him the remainder of the 2015 season. It's another unfortunate injury for the Cardinals' ace who's missed a season in the past with a Tommy John injury. While Tyler Lyons and Tim Cooney are the two candidates to start Tuesday's game for the Cardinals, Marco Gonzales is the likely candidate to take over in the rotation once he returns from an injury of his own.

Wainwright (Achilles) was placed on the disabled list Sunday morning, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Wainwright's season may be in jeopardy after the right-hander suffered an Achilles injury during Saturday night's start against the Brewers, so the move to the disabled list comes as no surprise. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday, at which point a clearer picture should be painted of the veteran's expected absence.

Wainwright could miss the rest of the season because of an Achilles injury, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Wainwright suffered the injury during an at-bat in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against the Brewers, and there have been conflicting reports about whether the issue is to his Achilles or ankle. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, which will determine the severity of the injury, but if it is to his Achilles, it is obviously a massive blow to the Cardinals and fantasy owners. Wainwright has made over 30 starts in five consecutive seasons, averaging 201.4 strikeouts per season over that span.

Wainwright will undergo an MRI Monday.
Wainwright suffered a left ankle injury while trying to run after hitting a pop out. He was later in a walking boot, but manager Mike Matheny said the injury happened in "a bad spot." After his MRI Monday, Wainwright will have a better understanding about the potential length of his injury.

Wainwright suffered a left ankle injury and will be reevaluated upon the team's return to St. Louis following Sunday's game.
This really does little to inform owners about the severity of Wainwright's injury, as there are some ankle injuries that would not prevent him from making his next start and other such injuries that could sideline him for a lengthy period. He was injured in the batter's box in the fifth inning Saturday and was in the midst of pitching a gem against the Brewers. With Marco Gonzales (shoulder) on the minor league DL, Tim Cooney and Tyler Lyons represent a couple potential replacement options in the rotation should Wainwright have to miss time.
