Sanchez allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, he did not walk a batter and struck out three over eight-plus innings of a 6-2 win against the Astros on Friday night.
It was the fourth straight quality start for Sanchez (5-4, 3.55 ERA), and may have been one of his best outings of the season. He worked the strike zone, primarily with his sinking fastball, and completed eight shutout innings having given up just three singles while inducing 12 groundball outs. A lead-off home run, followed by a pair of singles to open the ninth inning lead to his departure, but this is the type of performance the Jays have been looking for from their young righthander.
