Wilson notched his first multi-point game of the season Thursday, dishing two assists (one on the power play) in a win over the Flyers.
EDGE Analysis
Sure, they were secondary assists on insurance goals, but hey, they all show up the same on the back of your trading cards. It's well worth noting that despite still-slender ice time (12:07), Wilson got a chance on the man advantage, while his even-strength helper came on a Nicklas Backstrom goal.

Head coach Barry Trotz said he was asking Wilson to be smarter about his game while still remaining "edgy", Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the aftermath of Washington's overtime win over Toronto that was a last-second goal away from a loss due in no small part to his untimely penalty, Wilson said he's trying to be more aware of his antics and acknowledged that he had been "on the brink" of taking a penalty for much of the game. "It's tough nowadays to play that way and stay on that brink of penalty or not penalty," Wilson remarked. Still just 21-years-old, Trotz and the Capitals are encouraging the former first-round pick to focus on becoming a more well-rounded player, and although the early returns are not encouraging, the power forward still has time to grow into more than just a fourth-line enforcer. With just two assists in 13 games coupled with less than expected peripheral contributions like hits and penalty minutes, Wilson's value is limited even in deeper leagues until he shows the coach's enough to warrant a larger role in the offense.

Wilson left Saturday's game with a leg injury, Chuck Gormley of CSNwashington.com reports.
EDGE Analysis

Wilson grabbed two assists during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson also had a minor penalty and two hits. Wilson has had a fine preseason with a goal and three assists in four games. Add in his upside in peripheral stats like hits and penalty minutes, and the 21-year-old has some upside in deeper leagues as he may be emerging as one of the league's more impactful power forwards.

Wilson assisted on Andre Burakovsky's power-play goal during Washington's 3-1 win over the Islanders on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year power-forward also fired three shots on goal and added two hits. Already an imposing physical presence, the third-year winger was challenged to work on his offensive game over the offseason, and the early returns are promising as he has a goal and an assist in two preseason contests. With T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams ahead of him on the depth chart, Wilson will need to continue making an impact on more of the scoresheet than just the penalty minute columns if he is to move up the Washington depth chart, but if his offensive skills continue to grow, he could emerge as a solid multi-category performer in most leagues and has some sleeper potential heading into 2015-2016.

Wilson notched an assist in Friday's Game 5 loss to the Rangers. It's the first postseason point for Wilson, who has taken on more of an agitating role on the Caps' fourth line. Though he's a below-average source of points, Wilson has been picking up the penalty minutes in droves, already amassing 34 PIM across 12 playoff contests.

Wilson (head) has been medically cleared to play, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson said he was medically cleared Thursday, so all signs point to him playing in Friday's Game 2 against the Capitals after sitting out Game 1. The 21-year-old posted four goals and 13 assists during the regular season.

Wilson (head) participated in Thursday's optional skate, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson indicated he felt "pretty good" after the session and plans to skate again Friday morning in advance of the Capitals' Game 2 matchup with the Islanders. The winger, who sat out Wednesday's postseason opener, no longer appears to be dealing with any symptoms of a concussion, but getting back into game shape still represents something of a hurdle. He should be viewed as questionable for Friday's contest.

Wilson (head) will likely remain out of the lineup for Wednesday's Game 1 matchup against the Islanders, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Both Wilson and Andre Burakovsky were on the ice for morning skate, but neither took part in line rushes, suggesting that both will be scratched for the playoff opener. Coach Barry Trotz said earlier in the week that Wilson is "very close" to a return, so we could see the young winger draw back into the lineup for Game 2 on Friday.

Wilson (head) is nearing a return to action, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. "He's very close," coach Barry Trotz noted Tuesday with regard to Wilson's potential return to action, though at this stage the forward's status for Wednesday's game against the Islanders remains murky. That said, with Jay Beagle and Eric Fehr poised to suit up Wednesday, we wouldn't be surprised if the Caps proceeded cautiously with Wilson in the coming days.
