Look for Steve Mason to get the start in goal for Columbus on Friday.
Mason has played well of late and GM Scott Howson said that he has been good the last five or six games. He is 8-21-3 this season with a .888 save percentage and a 3.44 GAA but is 3-2-1 in his last six giving up 17 goals in 198 shots.

Steve Mason allowed three goals on 41 shots as the Blue Jackets knocked off San Jose by a 6-3 score Tuesday.
Mason was good enough to win this contest as the Jackets got him out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back. There aren't very many nights like this in the life of a Columbus goaltender so Mason owners should be pleased with the effort.

Steve Mason allowed three goals on 35 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers Sunday.
Mason has had an extremely difficult season and it was only made worse when he took a Ryan Callahan shot off his mask during this game. He managed to stay in the game, but the incident was a fitting metaphor for his season.

Despite being pulled Saturday night after allowing four Chicago goals on 20 shots, Steve Mason will be in the Blue Jackets' net against the Rangers Sunday.
Allen York, who relieved Mason in the 6-1 loss Saturday, will continue to dress as the Jackets' backup while Curtis Sanford recovers from a back injury.

Goaltender Steve Mason will become the Columbus Blue Jackets' record-holder for most victories if he and his team can beat the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.
But winning has not been easy for the Blue Jackets this season and Mason has endured a very tough season. He is 45th overall in the major goaltending categories in 2011-12. But Curtis Sanford has a back injury and so Mason will play again tonight. His career record is 84-87-25 in four seasons.

Steve Mason is 2-1 with a .931 save percentage and a 2.33 GAA in his last three games.
The netminder is having another horrible season as he is 45th overall in all the major categories which includes seven wins, a 3.40 GAA and a .887 save percentage but those numbers were worse three games ago. Interim head coach Todd Richards had no confidence in him when Richards took over the reins from Scott Arniel in January and it showed as Mason started only three of 13 games with two coming when the Blue Jackets played back-to-back nights. But an injury to Curtis Sanford opened the door for Mason yet again and this time he has played well. "He has elevated his game," Richards said. "It's a credit to him because he has worked extremely hard. It's been a real difficult year for him. I'm happy for him that he's starting to have some success." Look for Mason to get the start on Saturday as Sanford has yet to return to the ice to skate.

With Steve Mason's win on Tuesday, he has tied the Blue Jackets' franchise records for wins with 84.
If anything, that's more of a statement about the Blue Jackets' goaltending woes since the franchise played in it's first game back in 2000, then it is a personal accomplishment for Mason. He shares the record with Marc Denis, a man who spent five seasons with Columbus and was the NHL's leader in losses for two of those campaigns. Just as bad is the fact that no one is even close to approaching Mason or Denis. Pascal Leclaire is third on the list with 45 wins with the Blue Jackets.

Steve Mason allowed just one goal on 32 shots in the Blue Jackets' 2-1 win over St. Louis Tuesday.
Mason has won two of three starts in place of the ailing Curtis Sanford, but with possibly the league's weakest supporting cast he's not worth owning in shallow leagues.
