Steve Mason allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Blue Jackets 5-3 loss to Anaheim Sunday. With Curtis Sanford nursing a back injury, Mason played well on Saturday, but he struggled in this contest from the outset. He's a desperate play in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Look for Steve Mason to be back in the Blue Jacket goal Sunday against the Ducks. Although he played Saturday in Minnesota and the team is travelling back to Columbus for Sunday's contest against the Ducks, we suspect Mason will get the call. He was excellent in the Jackets' win against the Wild and Curtis Sanford is out with a back injury. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

Steve Mason recorded his first win since Dec. 29 after kicking away 34 shots Saturday night in the Columbus Blue Jackets' 3-1 win versus the Minnesota Wild. Curtis Sanford has been receiving the bulk of the starts of late, but was out with a back injury. Regardless, it was encouraging to see Mason put forth such a solid effort. He was especially impressive in the third period, when he faced 15 shots, while Columbus had just two. In his last five appearances, the 23-year-old had given up 20 goals.

Steve Mason will start in Saturday's game. Curtis Sanford is sidelined with a back injury, so Allen York will serve as Mason's understudy. Mason has a 3.53 GAA and .881 save percentage in 27 starts this season.

Steve Mason played in his 200th career game on Tuesday. Mason has struggled for three straight seasons and he's reached new lows in 2011-12, but it's important to remember that he's only 21 years old. Plenty of fantasy owners have given up on him at this point and if the recent reports are to be believed, the Blue Jackets might be following suit. However, we wouldn't be surprised if he surprises people with a big comeback in a couple of years.

Steve Mason absorbed all six goals as the San Jose Sharks smashed the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-0. Mason is a pathetic 1-7-1 in his last 10 games. The Blue Jackets reportedly want to trade Mason, but it's hard to imagine him even getting a whole lot of attention if he was on re-entry waivers at this point.

A report indicates that the Columbus Blue Jackets would like to trade their failed franchise goalie Steve Mason. Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports that GM Scott Howson wants to get rid of the goalie but the fact that he his contract expires in 2012-13 hurts his already minimal trade value. Matheson believes that Mason would be easier to move via re-entry waivers with his salary being cut in half.

Steve Mason allowed four goals on 29 shots in a 4-1 loss to Nashville Monday. The defeat dropped his record to 5-18-2 on the year. Mason's .882 save percentage and 3.43 goals-against average don't exactly inspire confidence, but goaltending hasn't been Columbus' only problem this season.

Steve Mason will play between the pipes on Monday. It will be just Mason's third start of the month. He'll try to build off his decent showing in a 3-0 loss to Nashville on January 19th. He turned aside 22 of 24 shots in that contest.
