It looks like Steve Mason will get the start in net Tuesday night. Mason has played well since joining the Flyers at the trade deadline. Although he has yet to win, Mason has allowed just four goals in three appearances and has a 1.74 GAA and .934 save percentage.

Steve Mason is enjoying his time with the Philadelphia Flyers. "There's still a learning curve, obviously," Mason said. "But there's things that I still want to improve upon. But the start so far, with the exception of not getting the wins, I've been comfortable with. I'm really enjoying it here. The guys are great. I'm just really looking forward to being here into next season." Mason wants to eventually become the Philadelphia Flyers number one goaltender, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to shake off years of struggles with the Columbus Blue Jackets. At least he's gotten off to a strong start with a 1.74 GAA and .934 save percentage in three games with the Flyers.

Steve Mason permitted just one goal in a 1-0 loss to Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. He made 20 saves on 21 shots in the contest. Mason has been decent in two starts with the Flyers since being acquired from Columbus, but he's still looking for his first win in a Philadelphia uniform.

Steve Mason has inked a one-year/$1.5 million extension with the Philadelphia Flyers. Mason was scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer. That's a significant pay cut from the $3.2 million he was set to make in 2012-13 before the lockout, but it's not hard to see why he agreed to it. Mason has been terrible over the last four years and consequently didn't have much leverage in these negotiations. The Flyers acquired him from Columbus on Wednesday.

There is a very good chance that Steve Mason will make his Flyer debut Saturday afternoon against the Jets. Ilya Bryzgalov has started 21 consecutive games and likely needs a rest. Mason could be re-born in Philly after being beaten down in Columbus for many seasons. Watch him as he could make a nice speculative pick up.

Steve Mason is eager to have a "clean slate" to work with as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. "I'm not sure what my role is now, I haven't really been told," he said. "To me, that's not my main focus. My job is to come in here and become the goaltender the organization believes I can be and that's to be a No. 1 goaltender. I'm fully prepared to put the work in, and really excited to start doing it." According to his agent, Anton Thun, Mason and the Flyers may have a new one-year deal in place as early as next week. He is slated to be a restricted free agent this summer.
