Steve Mason reportedly had a difficult time against the Coyotes in Saturday's 5-3 loss. The fact he allowed four goals on 34 shots is one thing, but that isn't always an indication of poor play on its own. More troubling is the way in which he played, often scrambling in his crease rather than remaining fixed in a proper position. Mason and Sergei Bobrovsky have been equally mediocre so far this season, but we expect "Bob" to be the frontrunner for playing time going forward.

Steve Mason kicked out 30 of 34 shots in a 5-3 defeat Saturday night. Mason allowed three goals on 14 shots in the first period. He has lost two of his last three contests, bringing his record down to 2-5-0 this season.

Steve Mason allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Blue Jackets' 6-2 win over the Sharks Monday night. Sergei Bobrovsky has put up better numbers this season, but the ideal fantasy situation is one where you're able to avoid the Blue Jackets' goaltenders entirely if possible. Given how many times Mason has burned fantasy owners over the last few years, we can't recommend owning him.

Steve Mason will get the start in goal on Monday according to Jeff Rimer, the Blue Jackets tv play-by-play voice. Mason will face the Sharks after playing the Kings last Tuesday, giving up four goals on 31 shots in a 4-2 loss. Mason is 1-4 this season with a 3.00 GAA and a .900 save percentage. He has lost his starting gig in the net to Sergei Bobrovsky thus far as the duo have been splitting games with Bobrovsky starting seven so far while Mason's start on Monday being his sixth.

Steve Mason stopped 27 of 31 shots in a 4-2 loss to Los Angeles Tuesday night. Despite how well Mason had been playing of late, it was a little unfair to expect big things in this game when you consider the injuries Columbus has suffered on its blue line. We expect Sergei Bobrovsky to be back between the pipes in the Jackets' next outing.

Steve Mason set aside 32 shots in the Blue Jackets' 4-2 win over the Red Wings on Saturday night. It was by far his best performance of the season, which is good news for the Blue Jackets, but not something that should put him anywhere near fantasy radars. Mason has a 2.77 goals-against average and .906 save percentage on the year.

Steve Mason held his own in Columbus' 3-2 loss on Wednesday. Mason stopped 23 of 26 shots, but Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards, who was critical of his team overall, felt his goaltender did better than those numbers suggest. "(Mason) was great," Richards said. "I'm sure if you talked to Steve he'd say the Koivu goal (1-0) can't go in. But after that, he was tremendous. The saves he made ... I could go on and one with the chances. He kept it there." All the same, Mason has a 3.71 GAA and .880 save percentage in three games this season. Sergei Bobrovsky has put up far better numbers, but the ideal situation is one where you're able to avoid the Blue Jackets' goaltenders entirely. Two netminders splitting duties on a well below-average team doesn't lend itself to fantasy value.

Steve Mason allowed three goals on 26 shots for the Blue Jackets in a 3-2 loss to Minnesota Tuesday. Mason has now started three games for the Jackets without picking up a win and posting a .880 save percentage and 3.71 GAA. Compare those against the solid numbers posted by Sergei Bobrovsky and it becomes clear the team should hand the keys to the former Flyer and let him run with it.

It appears Steve Mason will be in net Tuesday night against the Wild. Mason hasn't done much to reclaim his starting job from Sergei Bobrovsky, allowing eight goals combined in his two starts this season. It looks like he'll get another chance to prove himself tonight after Bobrovsky allowed one goal in a 2-1 win Monday, but unless Mason suddenly turns his situation around, we recommend you stay far away from him.
