Steve Mason has confirmed that he has been traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. He has been relegated to backup duties behind Sergei Bobrovsky, who ironically enough the Flyers traded to Columbus last June. In 13 games this season, Mason posted a 3-6-1 record with an .899 save percentage and a 2.95 GAA. It will be interesting to see how he reacts with a new start, but he probably won't get a significant push until the Flyers make a decision on the future of Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are willing to trade Steve Mason. He probably wouldn't cost much either, although teams might still pass on him, especially given some of the other netminders on the market. Mason has been a disaster in recent years, but a change of scenery might be what it takes to finally put his career back on track. He's scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer and it wouldn't be surprising if he isn't playing with the Blue Jackets when the 2013-14 campaign begins.

Although he was not stellar by any means, Steve Mason was good enough to post a 6-4 win for the Blue Jackets against the Flames Friday night. He kicked out 29 of 33 shots in his first start since March 5th. Look for Sergei Bobrovsky to return to the Columbus net Sunday against Anaheim.

Steve Mason will get the nod on Friday. It will be Mason's first start since March 5. He hasn't gotten much playing time due to Sergei Bobrovsky's hot streak, but it looks like Bobrovsky will get a game off after allowing five goals on 24 shots on Thursday.

Look for Steve Mason to get the start in goal Tuesday when the Blue Jackets host the Edmonton Oilers. According to Rob Mixer, Mason is in the starter's net during the morning skate. Mason is 2-6-1 this season with a 2.88 GAA and a .904 save percentage. Mason is not a great fantasy option this season so use him if you need to take a risk.

The Blue Jackets took their third consecutive one-goal loss to the Blackhawks Friday night -- this one a 4-3 overtime loss in Chicago -- and Columbus goalie Steve Mason was fuming. "It's such a crappy feeling," Mason said. "I felt like garbage after that second goal. When you look at the grand scheme, coming up one goal short against these guys means we're doing a lot of things right to be able to stick with them. But we're not doing enough."

Steve Mason blocked 31 shots but it wasn't enough as the Blackhawks topped the Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime on Friday night. Credit the Blue Jackets in this one for playing a pretty good game. They had two leads and then knotted it up at 12:23 of the third period, but ultimately Chicago's talent was too much. Mason has a 2.88 goals-against average and .904 save percentage on the season.

Steve Mason will play between the pipes against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. Will Mason, one of the most disappointing goaltenders over the last four years, and the Columbus Blue Jackets, arguably the worst team in the NHL, be the ones to end Chicago's 20-game point streak? You wouldn't think so, but far stranger things have happened.

Steve Mason made 26 saves as the the Blue Jackets fell to the Blackhawks on Sunday night 1-0. It was by far his best effort of the eight starts he's had this season, as Sergei Bobrovsky has grabbed most of the starts in net lately. Mason has a 2.77 goals-against average and .907 save percentage on the year.

The Columbus Blue Jackets hope to upset the surging Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday with Steve Mason in net. The former face of the franchise at the goalie position hasn't played since Feb. 17. It's hard to blame the Blue Jackets for going with Sergei Bobrovsky instead; Mason has a pitiful 2-5-0 record and mediocre individual stats (3.00 GAA and .900 save percentage).
