Mason allowed three goals on 28 shots and two more in the shootout during Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Ducks. The Flyers are 0-2-2 to start the year, and Mason's been in net for three of those losses. After the way he fell off following a hot start to his career in Columbus, it's a bit unsettling to see Mason looking rough early on, but it's too soon to panic.

Mason will be between the pipes for Tuesday's game against the Ducks. Mason will be looking for his first victory of the season in his third start, but that will not come easy against a Ducks squad that lit the lamp 12 times in its first three games.

Mason lost for the second straight day Thursday, giving up five goals on 25 shots against the Devils. After lying dormant in the opener Wednesday, the Flyers' offense tried to help Mason out in this one, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, then tying it again at 4-4, but Mason just kept giving up goals. It's possible that after this performance, he'll take a seat in favor of Ray Emery on Saturday, but Craig Berube may elect to throw Mason right back into the fire. Keep an eye out for the starter announcement.

Mason will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Devils, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Mason will start for the second time in two nights after getting the nod in Wednesday's season opener. He picked up the loss Wednesday, but gave up just two goals on 33 shots.

Mason allowed two goals on 33 shots in Wednesday's season opening loss to the Bruins. Mason played well enough to keep his team in the game despite the Flyers being outshot 33-20. He'll get saddled with the loss in the end, but his fantasy owners have nothing to complain about with Wednesday's performance.

Mason will be between the pipes for Wednesday's season opener against the Bruins, David Strehle of TheFourthPeriod.com reports. Mason entered last season in something of a battle for No. 1 duties with Ray Emery, but he quickly emerged as the primary option, finishing with a 33-18-7 record, 2.50 GAA and .917 save percentage. His ratios probably won't stack up favorably with some of the league's other top goalies, but he still figures to make around 60 or 65 starts this season if health permits.

Mason allowed six goals on 37 shots in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers. With the Flyers' defense still looking messy, Mason looks like a backup option -- at best.

Mason turned away all eight shots he faced in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Devils. It's hard to draw many conclusions from such a short outing -- he played on half the game. His eight saves also came against a mixture of Devils' prospects. Still, keep an eye on Mason as the preseason progresses. The tall keeper could be a good stash in deeper leagues.

Mason (finger) returned to the ice Monday for the first time since breaking his finger three weeks ago, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. With training camp still a month away, the expectation is that Mason will be healthy enough by that time to participate in full activities. After having to fight for his job as the No. 1 goalie a season ago, Mason will be the team's unquestioned top option between the pipes after going 33-18-7 with a 2.50 GAA and .917 save percentage in 2013-14.

Former NHL-star-turned-broadcaster Jeremy Roenick does not believe the Flyers will win the Stanley Cup with Steve Mason in net. "I like Steve Mason, but I don't think [he] is the answer to winning a Stanley Cup," the former Flyer said in a radio interview. "I think you need an upper echelon defenseman, I think you need an upper echelon goaltender. Both, the Flyers do not have. I think that's something that you're going to have to look at in terms of improving your team." In his first full season with the Flyers, Mason posted a 33-18-7 record. The goalie also recorded a .917 save percentage, a 2.50 goals against average, and four shutouts in 61 games played.
