Flyers coach Craig Berube is sure Steve Mason is ready to start in a postseason game if called upon. Mason, who had been dealing with an upper-body injury, replaced Ray Emery late in the third period of Game 3 on Tuesday. "I think the practice time he's had he's looked fine," Berube said on Wednesday. "He hasn't really been with us as a team so much, we haven't practiced a lot as a team. There's been three goalies out there. We'll see tomorrow. He's going to be on the ice with us tomorrow, and we'll go from there." Philadelphia isn't likely to reveal its starting goaltender for Game 4 until just before the contest starts.

Steve Mason isn't sure if he will start in Game 4, but he's available if needed. Mason served as the backup goaltender on Tuesday. Ray Emery allowed four goals on 16 shots before being pulled, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Mason get the nod on Friday.

Steve Mason (upper body) is healthy enough to serve as Philadelphia's backup goaltender on Tuesday. Ray Emery will still start for the Flyers. With Mason back, Emery will be on a shorter leash, but Emery's been solid thus far and it wouldn't be surprising if Philadelphia ran with him until he gives them a reason to do otherwise.

Steve Mason (upper body) isn't sure that he would start on Tuesday even if he was healthy. Mason credited Ray Emery with leading the Flyers to victory in Game 2. "I think even if I was ready there's no reason to take him out right now," Mason said. Either way, Mason remains day-to-day and won't be available on Tuesday.

Steve Mason won't return to the lineup on Tuesday from his upper-body injury. He reported that his condition is improving. Mason also said there's no rush for him to return because Ray Emery is playing well, but he's aiming to be ready for Friday in Game 4.

Steve Mason's (upper body) status is still up in the air for Game 3. Mason was unable to finish practice on Saturday and last played on April 12 when he faced the Penguins but was pulled in the middle of the game with the upper body injury. If he is unable to go, then Ray Emery will get the start. Emery has played well in the first two games of the series so the Flyers have confidence in their backup netminder.

Steve Mason will not play Sunday because of an upper body injury. Mason had a good practice on Saturday but tired near the end of it so Ray Emery will start Game 2 with Cal Heeter as his backup. Mason is close to 100 percent and hopes to be there on Tuesday when the Flyers play their first home game of the playoffs.

Steve Mason (upper body) won't play Sunday. However, there were indications at Saturday's practice that he is getting closer. He'll try to get ready for Game 3 on Tuesday night back in Philadelphia. Cal Heeter will continue to serve as Ray Emery's backup while is Mason sidelined with an upper-body injury.

Steve Mason (upper body) participated in Saturday's practice. He is aiming to return on Sunday, so this is a positive sign. Cal Heeter, who served as Ray Emery's backup in Game 1, didn't take part in the session.

The Philadelphia Flyers might have No. 1 goalie Steve Mason back for Game 2 against the Rangers. Mason missed Thursday's 4-1 loss to New York because of an undisclosed upper-body injury. He was hurt last Saturday against Pittsburgh, when he was knocked over and hit the back of his head on the ice. Mason and the Flyers have declined to say whether he has a concussion. Mason took part in a goalie practice Friday at New York's Chelsea Piers and said afterward that he is feeling better than he did a few days earlier. He has set his sights on playing Sunday at Madison Square Garden. "I felt pretty good for being on the ice for the first time in a couple of days. It was a good step," the 25-year-old Mason said. "I felt great movement-wise. It was a pretty controlled setting and it felt good. "I'll know exactly when I am ready to go physically, but it is also a management and doctor's decision, as well." Ray Emery made 32 saves in Mason's absence Thursday.
