Mason will be in the crease Friday against the Hurricanes, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Mason has lost in each of his last four starts, but he'll have a great opportunity to turn things around against the league-worst Hurricanes. The latter two starts in the losing streak came after Mason returned from a back issue, and may have resulted in the goaltender showing some uncharacteristic rust. He allowed a total of seven goals across those two contests, posting save percentages below .880 on both occasions.

Mason gave up four goals on 33 shots in a 4-3 OT loss to the Avalanche on Wednesday. It was his fourth loss in a row. Things have not been going well for Mason and the Flyers this year, as his record now sits at a lackluster 6-11-6. His save percentage (.917) and GAA (2.57) haven't been quite as bad as his record would suggest, but he and Ray Emery have left much to be desired in the goaltending department this season in the City of Brotherly Love, as they now sit seven points out of a playoff spot and tied for fourth worst in the Eastern Conference -- woof.

Mason will be between the pipes Wednesday against the Avalanche, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Mason delivered a lukewarm performance in his return from a back injury Monday, stopping 21 of 24 shots in a loss to the Coyotes. The netminder hasn't been nearly as bad as his 6-11-5 record would indicate, as his ratios (2.52 GAA, .919 save percentage) are more in line with the league average. However, with a poor defense and inconsistent offense supporting him, Mason remains best utilized as a streaming play against weaker opponents.

Mason allowed three goals on 24 shots in Monday's loss to the Coyotes. Mason is not having a particularly strong season. His six wins are only good enough for 32nd in the league, so it's worth exploring other goaltending options for your roster.

Mason (back) will start Monday's game against the Coyotes, Tim Panaccio of CNS Philadelphia reports. Mason is fully recovered from his recent back injury, and will start his first game since Dec. 18. Mason is 6-10-5 on the season with a .921 save percentage and a GAA of 2.49.

Mason (back) was cleared to play Sunday. Mason's clearance opens the door to him returning Monday against the Coyotes, the date he was targeting. Although the starting goaltender has yet to be announced, the likely scenario would be Mason between the pipes. He should receive an update prior to Monday's game confirming whether or not he will be activated and in net.

Mason (back) is targeting a return to action Monday against the Coyotes, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. After taking the three-day break for Christmas to recuperate, Mason resumed practicing Saturday, indicating he felt "close to 100 percent" during the 45-minute session. He'll likely try to get in some more on-ice work Sunday and Monday morning, and if all checks out well, the Flyers would surely be inclined to activate him. He'll sit out for the fourth straight game Saturday, however, as the team goes with Ray Emery in his stead.

Mason (back) won't play Saturday against the Predators, but the injury isn't considered serious, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Mason will make the team's next road trip starting Saturday in Nashville, with the hope that can skate Saturday and possibly play Monday against the Coyotes. The news that the injury is minor brings relief for the Flyers, as the issue was initially feared to be worse.

Mason (back) was placed on injured reserve Monday. The results of Mason's visit with a specialist Monday remain unknown, but his placement on IR will at least rule him out for Tuesday's game against the Wild. With the Christmas break approaching to grant Mason some additional rest, there could be some hope for the goalie's return later in the week.

Mason (upper body) will visit a back specialist Monday, Dave Issac of the South Jersey Courier Post reports. General manager Ron Hextall doesn't believe Mason's injury is a long-term concern, but the appointment with the specialist should allow the goalie to formulate a recovery plan. Even so, Mason will be unavailable for the Flyers' two weekend contests, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he needed a few additional games off beyond that before returning to the net. In his stead, Ray Emery will assume the reins as the Flyers' top netminder, while Rob Zepp acts as his backup.
