Mason has been diagnosed with an upper-body injury and will miss at least the next two games.
While Mason will not play this weekend, early indications are the injury he suffered during Friday's practice is not as serious as initially expected. It's not clear how long Mason will be sidelined, but the Flyers will reevaluate him Monday and announce an update on his status at that time.

Mason (undisclosed) didn't make the trip with the Flyers to Toronto on Friday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
This would rule Mason out as an option for Saturday's game, as backup Ray Emery assumes the starting role while Rob Zepp figures to receive a call-up from AHL Lehigh Valley to serve as the No. 2 goalie. Mason remains under evaluation by team physicians after he required assistance off the ice during Friday's practice. The Flyers expect to have more information on his condition later in the day.

Mason left Friday's practice with what could be a significant injury, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. The goalie was unable to leave the ice under his own power and required assistance to the locker room.
Details remain scarce regarding his condition, but it looked to be a non-contact injury, as Mason fell to the ice after his body seemed to inexplicably lock up. The Flyers' training staff will likely examine him extensively to see what kind of injury he's dealing with, so it might not be until Saturday that the nature of the ailment is revealed. Even if Mason's issue proves to be more minor than anticipated, Ray Emery still looks like the favorite to start Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, and quite possibly, many more contests to come.

Mason stopped 31 of 32 shots Thursday against the Panthers, but ended up losing after a six-round shootout.
Mark another one in the loss column for Mason, who's given up just eight goals in the last five games, but garnered just two wins in that span. Not coincidentally, the Flyers have only scored more than two goals twice in their last 10 games.

Mason will be in goal for Thursday's game against the Panthers, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Mason played well in defeat in his last start, so he will hope for a similar performance but a different outcome Thursday night. He will take on a Florida squad that comes in 27th in the NHL with 2.17 goals per game.

Mason was effective Tuesday against the Lightning, stopping 20 of 22 shots, but ended up with yet another loss.
That's the seventh loss in nine starts for Mason, but he's actually played well lately -- two of those wins have come in his last four starts, in which he's allowed a total of just seven goals.

Mason will start Tuesday's game against the Lightning, CSN's Sam Carchidi reports.
Mason's record over the last few weeks is not pretty, but he has been playing well of late, posting a .931 save percentage since Nov. 1. He will face off against a Tampa Bay squad that has lost four of five games entering Tuesday's contest but still sits second in the league with 3.31 goals per game.

Mason made 25 of 26 saves in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Mason improved to 6-9-4 with the victory, as he's yet to find consistency between the pipes this season. He's definitely talented enough to handle the No. 1 starting gig in Philadelphia, but it remains to be seen whether he can perform well with some level of regularity truly earn that role.

Mason will be in the crease Saturday against the Hurricanes.
After receiving a rest in favor of Ray Emery on Thursday, Mason will return to the net as expected. While the netminder's ratios (2.69 GAA, .917 save percentage) aren't much different from last season, Mason has struggled to get consistent goal support, which has been reflected in his 5-9-4 record. A home tilt against a low-grade Hurricanes offense should at least grant him a decent opportunity to claim victory No. 6.

Mason allowed three goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jackets.
Mase's old team got the better of him this time despite Brayden Schenn bailing him out with a last-minute goal to send the game to overtime. He and the Flyers have been struggling mightily of late, as Mason's been stuck with six losses (three in overtime) in his last seven starts, and he's turned in sub-.900 save marks in four of those games.
