Mason (knee) was activated from injured reserve Thursday.
Mason has been out since Feb. 8 with the knee injury, so the Flyers will ease him back into action by letting him serve as the backup to Rob Zepp for Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs. The expectation is that Mason will be ready to man the net Saturday against the Rangers, and then make the bulk of the starts for the Flyers thereafter as the team looks to fight the Bruins and Panthers for the final Wild Card spot.

Mason (knee) is expected to be activated from injured reserve prior to Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs, Randy Miller of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Anthony Stolarz will head back to the AHL Lehigh Valley following Tuesday's loss to the Hurricanes, signaling that Mason should be available in some capacity for the first time since Feb. 8. After skating Tuesday, Mason noted that it's most realistic that he'd return to the crease Saturday against the Rangers, so he might only be available as a backup to Rob Zepp for Thursday's game. The Flyers should provide further clarity on the situation by the morning of the match.

Mason (knee) practiced with the team during Tuesday's morning skate, but won't be activated from injured reserve ahead of the game later in the evening versus the Hurricanes, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Mason met with the media after practice and said that while a return to action Thursday against the Maple Leafs hasn't been ruled out, it's more realistic that he'll be ready to play Saturday versus the Rangers. He'll need to complete another full practice or two before the Flyers confirm his availability.

Mason (knee) could return as a backup for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports.
The Flyers had earlier reported that Mason wouldn't return for Tuesday's tilt, but the team is now in need of goalie depth after Ray Emery suffered a lower-body injury. He's still not expected to return as a starter until Saturday's game against the Rangers, but it's possible he'll be back with the team in some capacity earlier than that.

Mason (knee) won't play Tuesday and is unlikely for Thursday, making Saturday his potential return date, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Mason likely will miss the first two games of the road trip, but the fact that he will embark with the team indicates he is close to returning. If Saturday is indeed his return date, he won't be getting eased back in net, potentially facing a stern Rangers offense.

Mason (knee) indicated that there's a chance that he could play Tuesday in Carolina or next Thursday in Toronto, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Such a timetable effectively rules Mason out for the Flyers' next three games, but it appears as though a return to action on his part some time next week remains plausible.

General manager Ron Hextall said Friday that Mason (knee) could resume skating late next week, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Hextall relayed that Mason had a small fragment from his meniscus removed during a knee scope earlier this week, a procedure that doesn't require a lengthy recovery period. The Flyers pegged Mason to miss two-to-three weeks following the operation, and for the time being, Hextall appears optimistic the goalie could meet the short end of that timetable.

General manager Ron Hextall confirmed Mason (knee) underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday and would be sidelined 2-to-3 weeks.Mason's procedure had been a poorly-kept secret by the Flyers' brass, as various Philadelphia media outlets had reported the same expected length of absence a couple days earlier. If nothing else, Hextall's verification of the reports offer further reassurance that the team doesn't plan to shut Mason down for the season, despite the team's unfavorable position in the Eastern Conference standings. Ray Emery will serve as the Flyers' primary goalie until Mason is able to return in late February or early March.

Mason was ruled out for 2-to-3 weeks Tuesday after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. He's been placed on injured reserve.Mason has been incredibly banged up this season, having previously missed a total of 10 games due to separate lower-body injuries. Despite his less-than-optimal health, he's been one of the top performers on an underachieving Flyers squad, producing a 2.30 GAA and .925 save percentage over 34 games. Backup Ray Emery will slide into the No. 1 spot on the depth chart for at least Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, but AHL Lehigh Valley goalie Rob Zepp could also see additional duty once he recovers from a right leg injury.
