Mason has played pretty well of late, compiling a 2-0-0 record with a 2.51 GAA and .931 save percentage in his last two appearances. The former third-round pick will look to earn a third consecutive win Saturday in a decent home matchup with a Rangers club averaging 2.36 goals per game on the road this season, 17th in the NHL.

Mason faced more than twice as many shots as opposing goalie Pekka Rinne on Thursday -- 40-19 -- but stopped 37 and took home a 6-3 win.

He can thank the Flyers' improving offense for putting up numbers that made Rinne put up numbers reminiscent of his performance in last weekend's 3-on-3 All-Star Game. That said, the Flyers can thank Mason too, as he's finally been justifying his No. 1 netminder status lately, having posted eight consecutive outings with a save mark of .911 or better. With only Anthony Stolarz (who's been mediocre in the AHL) to back him up while Michal Neuvirth (lower body) is on IR, Mason should be starting on an essentially every-game basis for the near future.

Given the impending break, there's a good chance Mason will be good to go for the team's next game Feb. 2 against the Canadiens.
