Monahan scored his third goal of the playoffs and fired a team-high five shots on goal in Friday's Game 4 loss to the Ducks.
It was the first point of the second round for Monahan, who has been held at bay after recording five points in Round 1 against the Canucks. With the Flames trailing the Ducks 3-1 in their series, the 20-year-old top-line center will need to lead by example if Calgary hopes to have any chance of coming back in this series. Considering Monahan scored eight game-winning goals in the regular season, don't expect the clutch-time performer to go out quietly.

Monahan scored his second goal of the playoffs and added two assists in Saturday's series-clinching Game 6 win over the Canucks.
A great finish to the first round for Monahan, who racked up five points in six games. Monahan's line with Johnny Gaudreau and Jiri Hudler was electric Saturday, combining for 10 points in the victory. The 20-year-old, who had 31 goals in the regular season, will need to keep producing if Calgary hopes to have any chance of getting past the high-flying Ducks in Round 2.

Monahan put four shots on goal Sunday and was a major force in the win. He now has two points in three games and is one of the major keys to Calgary finishing off the upset bid after going up 2-1 in the series.

Monahan, who did not practice Monday and left the ice after 10 minutes on Tuesday, is slated to play Wednesday against the Canucks.
"That was part of our plan," coach Bob Hartley said of Monahan, who notched 31 goals and 62 points in 81 games this season. "He's been playing tons of hockey and we want to make sure that he's as rested as he can be. That was set right from the start." Supporting that notion is that Monahan skated on the Flames' top line during Wednesday's pre-game skate, between Jiri Hudler and Johnny Gaudreau.

The Flames are expected to rest Monahan for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Jets, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports.
Monahan's rapid development since being drafted No. 6 overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft was a major reason why the Flames were able to earn an unexpected playoff spot with Thursday's win over the Kings, thus allowing coach Bob Hartley to rest several regulars for the finale. The 20-year-old nearly the doubled the offensive output from a season ago in 2014-15, as he'll finish the year with 31 goals and 62 points in 81 games.

Monahan notched an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over Los Angeles to help Calgary clinch a playoff berth.
The line of Monahan, Jiri Hudler and Johnny Gaudreau has been scoring like crazy as of late, as the Flames first line is clicking as well as anyone right now. Monahan is certainly peaking at the right time, as he has been held off the scoresheet only three times since the beginning of March.

Monahan put the Flames ahead for good with a goal in the third period of Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Coyotes.
The game-winner was Monahan's eighth of the season, as he has come up big for the Flames time and time again this year. He has at least a point in nine of his last 10 games and is helping to propel the Flames toward the playoffs with 31 goals and 30 assists in 80 games.

Monahan scored the Flames' lone goal -- and his 30th of the season -- Thursday in a 4-1 loss to the Blues.
What more can we say? He's already a stud at age 20, and he's been rolling of late, operating at a point-per-game pace over his last eight contests.

Monahan paced the Calgary attack with a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.
Though the final outcome wasn't what the Flames were looking for, Monahan still managed to capture first-star honors for the afternoon after giving him team an early lead with his 29th tally of the season. Great things were expected from Monahan after he was drafted sixth overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, but few probably thought he would become such a dominant player this early in his career. The 20-year-old's 54 points rank third on the team, and probably only represent the floor for his production when he hits his prime in the next few seasons.
