Monahan potted his seventh goal of the season in a 5-3 win over the Coyotes on Thursday. Monahan was also a plus-3 in the win. He has followed up a stellar rookie season with an even better sophomore start, putting up seven goals and five assists in 18 games. He has five points (four goals) in his last five games and is looking like one of the burgeoning fantasy centers in the NHL.

Monahan found the net for his fifth goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Panthers. Monahan has been the centerpiece of a productive Flames offense during wins in four of the team's last five games. During that span, he's contributed four goals and two assists, good for over half of his point production on the season. The 2013 first-round draft pick has lived up to his billing as a cornerstone-type player for the Flames and should be poised for an outstanding sophomore campaign.

Monahan tallied a power-play goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Lightning. After a slow start to the season, Monahan seems to have taken the mantle as the Flames' top playmaker. He's netted three goals and two assists over his last four contests to pace the Calgary attack. He should be able to blow past the 34 points he compiled as a rookie.

Monahan scored the game-winning goal in overtime Tuesday against the Caps. After a lucky bounce gave the Flames new life late in the third period, Monahan ended up with a wide-open opportunity in the final minute of overtime, and he buried the game-winner past Braden Holtby for his fourth goal of the year. After a slow start, he's been warming to the task along with the rest of the Flames -- six of his eight points this season have come in the last six games.

Monahan bagged a goal and assist in Friday's 4-3 win over the Predators. Both of Monahan's points came on the power play and marked his first with the man advantage all season. The 20-year-old already looks like Calgary's top center, but with only six points in 12 games, he's well behind the scoring pace of the league's elite pivots.

Monahan scored his first two goals of the year and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-0 win over Carolina. He'd managed no goals and two assists over the first eight games of the year, so this represents a nice turnaround for Monahan. The Flames are still giving him top-six minutes, so he'll have every chance to keep it going.

Despite nearly missing the game with an illness, Monahan grabbed an assist in a 4-2 loss to Vancouver on Wednesday. Monahan may have the most scoring ability of anyone in Calgary, and is off to a great start once again despite being sick. After scoring 22 goals last season and joining the first line to start the year, Monahan has a chance at putting up 50 points this season.

Monahan (illness) participated in pregame warmups Wednesday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports. Monahan missed Wednesday's morning skate due to illness, but it appears he'll attempt to give it a go for the Flames' season opener.

Monahan was out sick for Wednesday's morning skate and is questionable to play in the team's opener against the Canucks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. After a 22-goal rookie campaign, Monahan is set to open the season as the top-line center for the Flames. The bout with illness makes him a dicey play in daily or weekly formats, but his outlook remains shiny for season-long leagues, with his numbers likely to notice improvement across the board.

Monahan scored the Flames' lone goal in a 3-1 preseason loss to the Canucks on Thursday. Monahan is looking to improve on an impressive rookie campaign in which he scored 22 goals. It remains to be seen which line Monahan will start on, but it's hard to believe he wouldn't be a top-six forward before too long.
