Michal Neuvirth is expected to play between the pipes on Saturday against Colorado. Neuvirth has struggled this season, but he's coming off of a 26-save shutout over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. There's a good chance that Neuvirth will play against his former teammate, goalie Semyon Varlamov.

Michael Neuvirth blanked the Winnipeg Jets in the Washington Capitals' 1-0 victory Thursday night for his first shutout of the season. The Capitals have not been getting the steadiest of goaltending from Tomas Vokoun and after allowing four on 21 shots in the last game, they turned to the 23-year-old. Neuvirth was as cool as can be in net, kicking away 26 shots and silencing four Winnipeg power plays. The problem is, the youngster hasn't exactly run away with his opportunities when given a chance, either, as the win only improved his record to 4-5-1 to go along with a 3.38 goals-against average and .885 save percentage. The Caps play the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see whether coach Dale Hunter sticks with the hot hand or returns to the veteran.

Michal Neuvirth was saddled with the loss against the Florida Panthers Monday night. It's a bit surprising that Tomas Vokoun did not get to play against his former club tonight in Florida, the Capitals could have used him. Neuvirth made 25 saves in the loss tonight but struggled in his second start under new coach Dale Hunter. Look for Vokoun to get the next few starts.

It's only one game but it's good for confidence. I just want to get on a roll." Neuvirth is worth a look in 14-team leagues.
