Michal Neuvirth was battered for four goals on 31 shots in the Washington Capitals' 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. After a 7-0 start, Washington has now dropped three straight and is 3-6-1 in its last 10 games. While the young goaltender cannot take all the blame for the defeat - as he was hung out to dry on numerous occasions - perhaps Caps coach Bruce Boudreau should stick to one goalie for the time being, instead of the recent shuffling. His fault or not, Neuvirth needs to be better when he's given the shot; in his six decisions, he's allowed two goals or less just one time. Expect Tomas Vokoun to get the start in net Saturday against the Maple Leafs.

Michal Neuvirth was beaten two times on only 19 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Devils Saturday night. In a game where neither team managed 20 shots on goal Michal Neuvirth took the loss. Neuvirth is in a tough situation behind Tomas Vokoun and will need every win he can get. Taking the loss while facing under 20 shots is not what the Capitals coaching staff wants to see.

Michal Neuvirth was beaten five times on 36 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Stars Tuesday night. With this less-than-stellar performance, Neuvirth fumbled away an opportunity to carve out a larger role for himself, but we expect to see Tomas Vokoun between the pipes in Washington's next outing.

Michal Neuvirth is expected to start in Washington's game on Friday. When the season began, Neuvirth and Tomas Vokoun were expected to compete with playing time. Then Neuvirth got injured and Vokoun established himself as the team's starter by posting a 2.36 GAA and .920 save percentage in nine starts. Neuvirth got some playing time in relief of Vokoun on October 29th, but this will be Neuvirth's first start since the season opener.

Michal Neuvirth could get the start between the pipes in the Capitals' next game. Tomas Vokoun made his eighth consecutive start for the Capitals Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks but after giving up three goals on 17 shots the veteran netminder was yanked from the net. He was replaced by Michal Neuvirth, who gave up four goals on 26 shots in the final 40 minutes of play. After the game, Coach Bruce Boudreau explained why he made the switch."My thoughts were I just didn't think Tomas was very sharp," Boudreau said. "He played eight games in a row at a very high level. I thought the first and third goals weren't very good. I thought it was a good a time as any, Neuvy was sharp in practice, and I thought this was as good a time as any to get him involved in the game again."

There appears to be the possibility that Michal Neuvirth (foot) might start on Thursday night in Edmonton. He has been put through the wringer in two practices that he participated in fully this week. "I felt good today," Neuvirth said on Tuesday. "They told me to be ready to play on the trip." He hasn't played since the season opener on Oct. 8 against Carolina. Coach Bruce Boudreau wouldn't confirm who he would start though, so stay tuned for updates.

The Washington Capitals currently aren't planning to take a third goaltender to Edmonton for Thursday's game. That means that Michal Neuvirth (foot) is projected to serve as the Capitals' backup on Thursday even if he doesn't play between the pipes. Neuvirth was able to take part in Washington's practice on Monday. Stay tuned.
