Matt Read (ribs) is taking part in the pre-game warmups on Thursday.
It looks like Read will probably play on Thursday. If that's the case, then he'll be return roughly four weeks ahead of schedule.

Matt Read (ribs) might play on Thursday.
Read suffered torn rib cage muscles on Feb. 20 and was projected to miss six weeks as a result. However, he participated in Thursday's practice and didn't stay on for extra work like a projected scratch often will. When asked about it, Read said that he wasn't sure if he was playing and that it would ultimately be up to coach Peter Laviolette and GM Paul Holmgren. If Read ends up playing on Thursday, it would be a remarkable accomplishment and welcome news to fantasy owners who weren't expecting to get him back until April.

Matt Read believes he could be back from his torn rib cage muscles "as soon as this weekend" after he participated in Monday's practice.
He wore a regular, white jersey while taking part in cycling drills with passing and shooting during the session. "I think I've healed pretty quickly, but I'm still in a lot of pain," Read said. "Maybe that last part, going from 80 percent to 100 percent healthy will take a while." He isn't sure when exactly he'll be able to return, but he doesn't think that he'll be out for another month.

Matt Read skated and took some shots Wednesday for the first time since he suffered a tear to his rib-cage muscle last week against Pittsburgh.
However, he said that he was still in "a lot of pain" and is far away from being able to return. "I just show up every day, do my treatment, and when I get the green light to skate or do anything with the team, I take advantage of it," said Read, who isn't expected to skate again for a few days.

Matt Read (ribs) has been placed on the injured reserve list by the Philadelphia Flyers.
No surprise there. Read is expected to miss at least six weeks with a torn rib cage. Given that we're already approaching the halfway mark of the shortened season, that means any setback could potentially end Read's season.

Matt Read will miss six weeks with torn rib cage muscles, according to GM Paul Holmgren.
The good news he doesn't have a concussion, but the Flyers and fantasy owners alike won't take any solace in losing him for six weeks. Read was hurt on a hard hit from Pittsburgh's Chris Kunitz late in the first period Wednesday night. He is enjoying a strong sophomore season in 2013 with seven goals and 13 points in 18 games.

Matt Read (upper body) won't play Thursday.
There was some speculation that he might, but Tye McGinn will take his place in the lineup. The Flyers aren't saying much on Read's injury, which is causing some to believe that he could have a concussion.

There's some speculation that Matt Read (upper body) will be available to play Thursday night.
The Flyers did not have a morning skate since they played the night before, but some injured players and healthy scratches did hit the ice, including Tye McGinn. McGinn has been a healthy scratch of late due to Harry Zolnierczyk and his presence on the ice could mean that Read will play after leaving Wednesday night's game early due to an upper-body injury. GM Paul Holmgren hasn't provided an update on Read's status, so nothing is certain yet.

Matt Read will have his upper-body injury reevaluated Thursday in Philadelphia, according to GM Paul Holmgren.
He was forced to leave Wednesday's contest after logging just 6:54 of ice time on nine shifts. It's unclear if he'll be available for Thursday's game against Florida, but it's probably likely that he doesn't play.
