Matt Read suffered an upper body injury in the first period Tuesday and did not return. There was no word about Read's status after the game but something should be said on Wednesday. He has 10 goals and 19 points in 39 games with a minus-seven rating. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Read chipped in with his seventh and eighth goals of the season. His second goal was into an empty net. Wayne Simmonds (fourth), Claude Giroux (third) and Brayden Schenn (seventh) also delivered goals for the Flyers. Simmonds and Giroux also had assists for two-point nights.

After losing four of the first five games under new coach Craig Berube, the Flyers have gone 8-3-2 to climb out of last place in the Metropolitan Division. "We're having fun out there, doing simple things, not turning pucks over and just playing simple hockey," Read said. "We're a good team, and it just takes a matter of time and a couple of lucky bounces to get a positive atmosphere and get things clicking and going our way." The Flyers are averaging 3.6 goals their past six games after scoring 1.5 in the first 15.

Read opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the opening frame, which was a shorthanded marker, then he drew an assist on Braydon Coburn's game-winner. Nicklas Grossman also picked up an assist on Coburn's goal.

Read certainly isn't the only Flyers player struggling offensively, but it's not like he had a ton of upside to begin with. It's still possible for Read to reach the 50-point mark in 2013-14, but he's not worth owning at this time in standard leagues.
