The Columbus Blue Jackets might end up getting two picks from the Los Angeles Kings as a result of the Marian Gaborik deal. At the least, Los Angeles will send a Toronto Maple Leafs second-round pick to Columbus, which the Kings got as part of Jonathan Bernier. If the Kings re-sign Gaborik or if they win a playoff round, then they'll also give the Blue Jackets a third-round pick.

The Los Angeles Kings have reportedly acquired Marian Gaborik from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Kings have some very talented forwards as it is, but their offense has still been lacking this season. They have averaged 2.32 goals per game, which is good for 27th place in the NHL. Meanwhile, Gaborik hasn't been particularly good either, though that's mostly due to his injury issues. This trade might spark both sides and while he's not a safe bet, it certainly wouldn't be shocking if Gaborik ends up with around a point-per-game for the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign.

Marian Gaborik figures his production will increase now that he has returned to the Columbus Blue Jackets' lineup. Gaborik scored his sixth goal of the season when he resurfaced with the Jackets for a 5-2 loss to New Jersey Thursday night. The veteran right winger had been out since suffering a broken collarbone on Dec. 21. In his return, he scored once, had two shots on goal and a minud-1 rating. He played 16 minutes and 40 seconds. "By the second period, I started to feel more comfortable, like I was in the game," Gaborik said. "It's only going to get better." Gaborik will open tonight's game against Florida on a line with Artem Anisimov and Nick Foligno.

Marian Gaborik (broken collarbone) will play on the Blue Jackets' fourth line on Thursday. Clearly they want to ease Gaborik into the lineup, which makes sense given that he's just played in 18 games this season. Gaborik will still play on the Blue Jackets' top power-play unit.

Marian Gaborik (broken collarbone) said that he'd play on Thursday "unless something changes." Gaborik still needs to get medical clearance to return, although it sounds like that will happen. It remains to be seen what the Blue Jackets' lineup will look like once Gaborik returns. He practiced on the fourth line on Wednesday, which doesn't really provide us with much long-term insight, but might indicate that he'll be eased into the lineup.

Marian Gaborik (broken collarbone) is still hoping to return on Thursday. Gaborik has been practicing since the Blue Jackets reunited on Feb. 19. "Obviously games are totally different than practice, and it's hard to mimic a lot of things in practice," Gaborik said. "But I feel good enough to jump back in and have a good practice tomorrow, then we'll go from there." He's been limited to just 18 games this season, but is certainly capable of being a major contributor when he's healthy.

Marian Gaborik (broken collarbone) is hoping to play for the Blue Jackets when their schedule resumes on Feb. 27. Gaborik took part in Wednesday's practice as the Blue Jackets' non-Olympians get ready to resume playing. He has been cleared for contact drills.

Marian Gaborik (broken collarbone) has been given the green light to resume contact drills. He's expected to ramp up his efforts with the goal of being available to return for Columbus' first game back after the Olympic break.

The Blue Jackets are trying to figure out what to do with Marian Gaborik. Gaborik might have been available for a trade Friday or today had he not been injured. He suffered a broken collarbone on Dec. 21, and the bone is still knitting. Word came on Thursday that he would not be able to play for Slovakia at the Olympics in Sochi. Gaborik is in the final year of his contract. At $7.5 million, he is the Blue Jackets' highest-paid player and, arguably, their most talented. Yet they have surged since he was injured. What a strange situation. The Jackets can try to trade him by the deadline, but they will not get much in return because he really hasn't done anything for two years. They can keep him for their playoff push and hope he returns to form. They can pitch a low-base, incentive-laden contract offer after the season. They can let him go for nothing. "We'll discuss this, as a front office, before the Olympics are over," club president John Davidson said. "We'll try to figure it out. Gabby wants to stay here - he told us that."
