Gibson has been diagnosed with a groin injury and will miss approximately six weeks. The Ducks placed him on injured reserve and recalled Igor Bobkov from AHL Norfolk. Just as he was beginning to claw his way back into a timeshare in goal with Frederik Andersen, Gibson succumbed to the injury in pregame warmups Sunday, and will now be forced out for an extended period of time. The Ducks view the 21-year-old Gibson as their long-term option in goal, but the injury setback might prevent him from making a significant impact for the team in 2014-15. Aside from a bumpy season opener against the Penguins, Gibson had been stellar over four appearances for the Ducks, going 2-2 with a 2.28 GAA and .927 save percentage. His injury figures to give more job security to Andersen, who will need to overcome a minor leg injury of his own before reclaiming the net for Anaheim.

Gibson was scratched from Sunday's start against the Avalanche due to a lower-body injury suffered in warmups, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. The Ducks have had an unusual amount of turmoil in goal Sunday. It first appeared that Frederik Andersen was on track to take the ice against the Avalanche, but a bout with leg tightness made him unavailable. Now, it's Gibson who has fallen victim to injury in untimely fashion, forcing the Ducks to turn the net over to the newly-recalled Jason LaBarbera, with emergency call-up Dwayne Roloson serving as his backup. It's possible that both Andersen and Gibson were scratched for precautionary purposes, but more concrete information regarding the health of Anaheim's top two goalies isn't likely to be known until the team resumes practicing Monday.

Contrary to earlier reports, Gibson will not start Sunday's game against the Avalanche. Following Sunday's morning skate, coach Bruce Boudreau announced that Gibson would make the start Sunday in goal. However, just minutes before game time, the Ducks announced recently recalled Jason LaBarbera would make the start instead, while Dwayne Roloson serves as the backup.

Gibson is expected to start in net for the Ducks on Sunday, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports. Gibson continues to receive starts despite being outplayed by Fredrik Andersen. He was good in his last game, however, allowing just two goals on 29 shots but taking the loss after the Ducks were shut out.

Gibson stopped 27 of 29 shots in Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Blues. He was simply outdueled by fellow young netminder Jake Allen, who stopped all 24 on his own end. Gibson's started three of the Ducks' last four games -- allowing just three goals in that span -- but Frederik Andersen is sure to be back in the net Friday against Dallas. Despite his 6-0 start to the year, it seems like Andersen's performance Friday could go a long way toward determining how the starts get broken out in Anaheim.

Gibson will be in goal Thursday against the Blues, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Though Frederik Andersen has been spectacular as the Ducks' nominal No. 1 goalie this season, coach Bruce Boudreau remains committed to playing Gibson at least semi-regularly in order to give the 21-year-old some meaningful development time. As such, Gibson will start for the third time in four games on the heels of his shutout of the Blackhawks on Tuesday. Andersen probably would have received Thursday's start if it wasn't the front end of a back-to-back, so he'll more than likely start Friday in Dallas and while continuing to maintain the larger portion of the timeshare. In any event, no matter if it's Andersen or Gibson in the crease for the Ducks on a given night, either netminder should represent an ideal fantasy option.

Gibson got just one goal of offensive support Tuesday, but it was all he needed, as he made 38 saves in a shutout win over the Blackhawks. Opposing starter Scott Darling and Gibson matched zeroes into the third period until Devante Smith-Pelly scored a shorthanded goal to give the Ducks a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Gibson was shipped to the AHL after his disastrous season debut, but he's been terrific in two starts since coming back to the Ducks, stopping 54 of 55 shots. Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, however, Frederik Andersen has been magnificent in net to start the year.

Gibson will be given the starting nod Tuesday against the Blackhawks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. After No. 1 netminder Frederik Andersen suffered his first misstep of the season in Sunday's loss to the Sharks, Gibson will get another chance to build on the bounce-back outing he delivered Friday against the Blue Jackets, which marked his first start since opening night. The Blackhawks will counter with Scott Darling in the opposite net.

Gibson is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Fellow goaltender Frederik Andersen struggled a bit in his last outing, so it appears he will get a night off in favor of Gibson, who gave up just one goal in a victory over the Blue Jackets in his last start Friday.

Gibson turned away 16 of 17 shots Friday against the Blue Jackets, extending the Ducks' winning streak to seven games in the process. A sterling performance from his defense didn't allow Gibson to see much work in this one, but he made the saves he needed to steer the Ducks to the win column. The steady outing was much-needed for Gibson after he was rocked for six goals in the opener against the Penguins, but it won't be enough for him to dramatically cut into Frederik Andersen's workload. After all, it was Andersen who had reeled off six straight wins to set the streak in motion in the first place.
