Gibson got just one goal of offensive support Tuesday, but it was all he needed, as he made 38 saves in a shutout win over the Blackhawks.
Opposing starter Scott Darling and Gibson matched zeroes into the third period until Devante Smith-Pelly scored a shorthanded goal to give the Ducks a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Gibson was shipped to the AHL after his disastrous season debut, but he's been terrific in two starts since coming back to the Ducks, stopping 54 of 55 shots. Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, however, Frederik Andersen has been magnificent in net to start the year.
