Allen was removed from practice Saturday for precautionary reasons, and it appears he's fine with his return to practice Sunday. Assuming he remains healthy, Allen is the favorite to start for the Blues in 2015-16, but he'll need to prove the best option with Brian Elliott still breathing down his neck.

Removing Allen from Saturday's practice appears to have simply been a precautionary measure. The 25-year-old goaltender should return to practice in a few days, and is expected to open the upcoming season as the Blues' starting netminder.

Allen signed a two-year extension with the Blues on Friday, NHL.com repots. The 24-year-old led all goalies with 22 wins last season while posting a 2.28 GAA and .913 save percentage. He'll remain the unquestioned No. 1 goalie for the Blues going forward.

Allen was pulled from Sunday's series-ending Game 6 loss to the Wild after giving up two goals on 13 shots. Not a good night for Allen, who had a disappointing postseason, posting a .904 save percentage. The 24-year-old is the goaltender of the future for the Blues, but he lost three of his last four playoff games, leading to the Blues elimination from the postseason. We wouldn't be too concerned, though, as he posted a solid 22-7-4 record in the regular season and was playing in his first NHL postseason. Have him on your radar next year.

Allen will be in net in Sunday's Game 6 against the Wild, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Despite his poor performance in Game 5, in which he allowed four goals on 19 shots, Allen will get the call again for Game 6 on Sunday. It's hardly a surprise, however, as Friday's Game 5 marked the first time since March 1 that Allen allowed more than two goals. He'll need to be better in Game 6 for the Blues to have a shot at staving off elimination.

Allen stopped only 15 of 19 shots in Friday's Game 5 loss to the Wild. Though the Blues were nearly able to double the Wild up in shot attempts, the goalie play was the difference in this one, as Devan Dubnyk was dominant in the opposite net while Allen turned in a substandard performance on his home ice. It was the first time Allen had given up more than two goals since March 1, so he'll still probably have plenty of leeway before ceding the net back to Brian Elliott. The pressure will be on Allen to help the Blues stave off elimination on the road in Game 6 on Sunday.

Allen will be between the pipes for Game 5 against the Wild, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Allen didn't have to do too much in Game 4, as Minnesota only managed to fire a total of 18 shots on goal. However, he was still solid, turning away 17 of the 18 shots he faced. He'll look to build on that strong performance on Friday.

Allen stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced Wednesday in a 6-1 win over Minnesota in Game 4 of their series. Allen got lots of support in this one, but was very solid, only allowing a power-play goal. He should be back between the pipes for Game 5 on Friday.

Allen will be in the net for Wednesday's Game 4 against the Wild. Allen has held serve with Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk for the first three games of the series, posting a 1.68 GAA and .933 save percentage. Unfortunately, Allen hasn't received much support from his offense, which has put the Blues in a 2-1 hole entering Wednesday. If nothing else, Allen appears secure in his role as the No. 1 goalie, a development unforeseen just months earlier when Brian Elliott was playing in the All-Star Game.

Allen turned aside 21 of 23 shots but was on the losing end of Monday's 3-0 game against the Wild in Game 3. Allen has been solid through three playoff contests, posting a .933 save percentage while allowing just five total goals, but finds his team down 2-1 in the series nonetheless. With the trio of impressive performances, Allen figures to keep getting the starting nod from coach Ken Hitchcock going forward, but he'll need some more help in front of him for better results.
