Allen stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced en route to a 4-1 win over the Wild in Game 2, so it comes as no surprise he'll be between the pipes once again. If he continues to play well, there's no reason to believe anything will change in that regard.

Allen turned away 24-of-25 shots Saturday in a 4-1 win over the Wild. He barricaded the twine tent and was beaten only by a Marco Scandella slapper that snuck past him after the Wild defender broke his stick on the shot. He survived another couple close calls and was aided by the posts and his defenders.

Coach Ken Hitchcock indicated after Thursday's Game 1 that Allen will be in net again for Game 2 against the Wild, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Allen was praised by Hitchcock following Monday's game, with the coach saying his play was "great." The netminder finished the contest with 25 saves on 27 shots, but it wasn't enough as the Blues fell 4-2. It appears he may be the favorite to start moving forward, but Brian Elliott is also available should Allen falter.

Allen played well in Thursday's Game 1 against Minnesota, stopping 25 of 27 shots, but it wasn't enough in a 4-2 loss. Thanks to a quirky last minute-plus, Allen actually gave up as many goals as opposing netminder Devan Dubnyk, as the Wild potted two empty-netters. Despite Allen's strong play, it remains to be seen how the Blues will parcel out the goalie time going forward following the loss.

Allen will be between the pipes for Game 1 of the Blues' first-round playoff series against the Wild, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. After sticking with his struggling veteran netminder last postseason in Ryan Miller, coach Ken Hitchcock decided not to go down that path again, as the up-and-coming Allen will draw the nod over Brian Elliott, who slumped badly down the stretch. Despite his strong play, Allen's lack of postseason experience may give him a short leash in the event he unexpectedly struggles in Game 1.

Allen stopped 21 of 22 shots Thursday in a 2-1 win against the Blackhawks. The red-hot Allen continues making things awfully tough on the Blues, having now delivered four straight one-goal efforts. Maybe Brian Elliott plays Saturday in a playoff tuneup, and maybe Elliott draws the initial playoff start, but you get the feeling that if the Blues lose one postseason game with Elliott in net, they'll turn right to Allen. And they should, considering the way he's playing right now.

Allen was on the losing end of Tuesday's game against the Jets, but he gave up just one goal on 31 shots, as he was outdueled by Ondrej Pavelec. Despite the defeat, Allen still has performed far better than Brian Elliott the last couple of weeks, which puts the Blues in a bit of a bind as the postseason approaches. Coach Ken Hitchcock recently reiterated that Elliott would be his No. 1 goalie heading into the playoffs, but Allen's continued dominance may ultimately force his hand.

Allen made 30 saves, but the one goal he gave up was one too many in a 1-0 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday. So ends Allen's three-game winning streak, but not his run of hot play, as he's delivered save marks of .920 or better in six consecutive starts. The Blues have two games left, both at home -- against the Blackhawks on Thursday and the Wild on Saturday -- and it seems likely that Allen will start at least one of them as the Blues gear up for the playoffs.

Allen is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Jets, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The Blues will stick with the hot hand Tuesday, with Allen having earned wins in his last three starts, including Sunday's 2-1 triumph over Chicago.

Allen was phenomenal Sunday, stopping 38 of 39 shots in a win over Chicago. What a performance from Allen, who is now 10-1-2 in his last 13 games. He's allowed just six goals in his last four games, dropping his GAA to 2.36 -- 16th best in the NHL. With Brian Elliott struggling, the Blues could continue to play the hot hand and keep the 24-year-old Allen rolling.
