Jacob Markstrom made 27 saves on 32 shots as the Panthers got hammered by the Jets 5-2 Friday night.
Markstrom falls to 1-6-3 on the season with a .874 save percentage and 3.52 goals against average. 2013 has certainly been cruel to the young goaltender who was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft.

Jacob Markstrom has been recalled by Florida.
In 10 games with AHL San Antonio, he registered a 4-5-1 record along with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Tim Thomas left Thursday's practice early due to an injury, which prompted Markstrom's call up. If Thomas can't play Friday then Markstrom will probably back up Scott Clemmensen.

With little surprise, the Florida Panthers opted to send Jacob Markstrom to the AHL on Sunday.
Tim Thomas' return off of the IR and Markstrom's struggles made it an easy decision to go with Thomas - Scott Clemmensen as Florida's duo. The first year of Markstrom's two-year contract is two-way, so the Panthers bought themselves some time with the big Swede, who has struggled mightily this season. Thomas' shaky health hints at a possible return for Markstrom at some point, however.

With the return to action of Tim Thomas Saturday, the Panthers are expected to send Jacob Markstrom to the AHL.
Scott Clemmensen has done a nice job in two games since his return from injury and is a capable backup for the now healthy Tim Thomas. The 23-year-old Markstrom has been terribly inconsistent this year and will benefit from some seasoning in the minors.

Jacob Markstrom still couldn't get his second win of the season, as his Florida Panthers fell to the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in OT.
He hasn't won a game since Oct. 11 and his individual numbers (including an .877 save percentage) are lousy. The big Swede just doesn't carry fantasy value at this point.

Jacob Markstrom might get the nod again for Florida on Friday against St. Louis.
Veteran keeper Tim Thomas is still sidelined by a lower-body injury, so Scott Clemmensen may start Saturday's game versus Washington. "We're going to start winning games here," said Markstrom, who owns a 1-4-2 record this year. "I always have to be ready because stuff happens. I prepare every day as if I'm going to be playing. Nothing much has changed. I have confidence in this group, in this team. We're looking forward. This is a big weekend coming up."

Jacob Markstrom remains stuck at one win in the 2013-14 season, as the Florida Panthers fell to the Tampa Bay Lighting 4-3 (SO) on Sunday.
Markstrom is 1-4-2 with a putrid .887 save percentage and 3.19 GAA this season. Whether the big Swede has a bright future indeed or ends up being a bust, it seems like injured goalie Tim Thomas (or maybe even Scott Clemmensen) might be the right guy for right now. Markstrom does help you reach minimum requirements, at least.

Jacob Markstrom lost for the fifth time and fourth in regulation (1-4-1) as the Florida Panthers were defeated by the Buffalo Sabres 3-1.
The Panthers might believe that Markstrom is their goalie of the future, but it appears that Tim Thomas gives them the best chance to win now, at least in the rare moments when he's healthy. Markstrom has a disappointing .886 save percentage and 3.27 GAA in 8 GP.
