Dustin Penner has turned the "eating pancake injury" into a charitable opportunity. If you recall, Penner told reporters that he injured his back while sitting down to eat his wife's pancakes earlier this month. Although the burly winger only has scored three goals this season, he at least is trying to raise money for the less fortunate. Penner is working with the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) on a pancake event where the winner gets to sit down with Penner for a breakfast. Good for him. Now if only he could score!

Dustin Penner found the net for just the third time this season. Relatively speaking, Penner is on a hot streak with three points in his last five games. That's not half-bad since he only has 11 points in 2011-12.

Dustin Penner, who missed Saturday's game due to back spasms, was feeling significantly better on Monday. Penner apparently suffered the injury while leaning in eat pancakes. Although Penner appears to have made progress on Monday, Kings coach Darryl Sutter erred on the side of caution with his statement. "I don't know, if we were playing tonight, that he would play, but hopefully he keeps making improvement," Sutter said. "It's back spasms, so there's really no way to gauge that. It didn't happen until yesterday morning, so there's no way of telling. Like he said, he's never had it before." Consider him questionable for Monday's game.

Dustin Penner is starting to play better but wants to do even more the rest of the season. Penner got off to a slow start this season and while he has played better of late, he is looking to improve. "I've been at that level before, and higher," Penner said of his recent play. "It's just a matter of maintaining it. It's a mindset. The work during the summer helped, but the (early-season groin) injury kind of inhibited that. Those three weeks (with the hand injury) were kind of a blessing in disguise. The broken knuckle gave my lower body time to heal." Penner owners are hoping it's true and that he will have a good rest of the season.

Dustin Penner potted his second goal of the season in the Los Angeles Kings' 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Even though the Kings have dropped three straight, the silver lining is that the power forward has been noticeable, recording his two goals and three of his five points since he returned from a hand injury. Trent Hunter had his first goal of the season, while Jack Johnson had two assists to give him 12 points on subpar season. The 24-year-old is on track for a 30-point campaign after recording 42 and 36 in the previous two seasons.

Dustin Penner scored a power-play goal in his return from a hand injury. It was Penner's first game since November 10th. Unfortunately for the Kings, Penner's goal was all the offense they could muster in a 2-1 loss to Montreal. Drew Doughty and Trent Hunter each registered an assist in the losing effort.

Dustin Penner (hand) did not play on Thursday. Penner has been out of action since November 10, and is likely very close since it was thought that he could play on Thursday. Stay tuned.
