"It's never easy to lose the first game of a playoff series, especially at home," Penner said. "That's why I say they're going to come out desperate. We expect that. They're going to work on things, just like we're going to work on things and go over video. It's going to be a totally different game." Penner had a goal and an assist in the Kings' 3-1 victory on Saturday.

Dustin Penner might play on a line with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter in the first game of the second round. That's a nice opportunity for Penner, who had just 17 points in 65 regular season games. "He's had a really tough year and so he's got to draw on the experience he had before, winning, that he can still be a really good contributor," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. The big-bodied winger ha sbeen a major disappointment with the Kings, and he has just six goals and 10 points on the season. It was his first goal in 14 games. Los Angeles was tied 1-1 entering the third, but scored three answered before Nashville found the twine late. Anze Kopitar (23rd), Dwight King (fourth) and Kyle Clifford (fifth) were the other goal scorers. Trevor Lewis had two assists.

Dustin Penner and his wife Jessica Welch are reportedly getting a divorce because of "irreconcilable differences," according to TMZ.com. It's already been a difficult year for Penner on the ice, so this distraction likely won't compound the problem but it could be another hurdle that he will have to overcome. He just seems to have lost whatever he had in 2009-10 with Edmonton.
