The Kings are counting on a resurgence from Dustin Penner this season.
Acquired from the Oilers in late February, Penner registered only six points in 19 games for Los Angeles and was hardly a force in the playoffs. Ticketed for a spot on one of the Kings' top two lines, Penner will have to do better if he is to cash in on a new contract. Penner seems to need motivation to play with desire and a physical edge. Perhaps the fact he is an unrestricted free agent come July 1st will be enough to get him going. We wouldn't bank on it, though.
