Chris Tanev's agent, Ross Gurney, has revealed that his client is drawing interest from KHL clubs, but his focus is still returning to the Vancouver Canucks.
"We are waiting to hear from them," Gurney said of the Canucks. "We did have some momentum for a period of time a couple of weeks back, but we haven't heard back from them since our last conversation. The only variable that has changed is that for whatever reason there seems to be an uptick in the amount of interest from the KHL." Gurney added that he has received calls from the Swiss Elite League as well. Vancouver assistant GM Laurence Gilman said Monday that he is confident that something will be worked out with Tavev, who is a restricted free agent.

There haven't been any talks recently between restricted free agent Chris Tanev and the Vancouver Canucks.
Tanev's agent Ross Gurney said there's no update in the situation, so this could be a situation that progresses slowly. It was reported last month that neither side was in a rush to get a new deal done and that still appears to be the case.

The Vancouver Canucks' negotiations with restricted free agent Chris Tanev are moving slowly.
"Restricted free agents without arbitration rights are in a classification all their own. There doesn't seem to be any urgency right now but, eventually, we'll make progress," Tanev's agent Ross Gurney said. The only negotiating weapon Tanev has is the possibility of an offer sheet from another team. The Canucks don't have a ton of cap room, so an opposing squad might be able to out-muscle Vancouver with a sizable contract if they're so inclined.

Chris Tanev's agent says the Vancouver Canucks extended a qualifying offer to his client Tuesday.
Tuesday was the deadline for teams to qualify pending restricted free agents or lose them to UFA status. Tanev is only 23 years old, but remains more of a depth defenseman for Vancouver. He had two goals, seven points and a plus-4 rating in 38 games last season.

Chris Tanev has hired Vancouver-based agent Ross Gurney to help him negotiate a contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Tanev and his father, Mike, began contract talks with the Canucks in mid-May, but they have decided to go with someone with more expertise at this stage of the process. He will become an restricted free agent in July.

Chris Tanev is still out indefinitely with what is believed to be a foot injury, according to coach Alain Vigneault.
However, GM Mike Gillis said that Tanev may "be back fairly soon." He has missed two games with the ailment, but could return before the end of the season.

The Vancouver Canucks announced Tuesday that Chris Tanev (leg) will be sidelined indefinitely.
Coach Alain Vigneault says he's hopeful Tanev will return in time for the postseason, which sounds to us like Tanev will miss the remainder of the regular season. Tanev doesn't have a ton of fantasy value, but he's one of the Canucks' steadier defensemen and his absence will definitely be felt.

Chris Tanev was out of the Vancouver lineup Monday with a leg injury.
Tanev has been one of the unsung heroes on the blueline, just being a steady defenseman for the first place Northwest Division Canucks. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Defenseman Chris Tanev of the Vancouver Canucks doesn't like the two-game suspension to teammate Alexander Edler for the hit he laid on Phoenix Coyotes' goaltender Mike Smith on Thursday night.
"He was just trying to look Alex off and hoping he wouldn't go behind the net," reasoned Chris Tanev, who skated gingerly Friday on a bothersome right foot but will play against the Los Angeles Kings Saturday. "Alex was just trying to play the puck and Smith happened to be up against the wall. I don't know really where he (Edler) could have gone. They're both big guys and it's definitely a tough play. I'm sure he (Edler) was trying to squeeze through him, but there wasn't much space to move around. Alex was just trying to get his stick. It's just one of those hockey plays, I guess."
