Tanev missed Thursday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports. The injury might explain why Tanev saw 17:52 of action in Tuesday's loss to the Predators -- about three minutes fewer than he typically receives. Coach Willie Desjardins is hopeful that the day off will be enough to allow Tanev to suit up Thursday against the Flyers, but his status probably won't be known for certain until the team concludes its gameday skate.

Tanev scored the overtime-winning goal on his birthday in Saturday's win over the Flames. The 25-year-old now has two goals and eight points in 32 games, to go with a plus-3 rating. While Tanev has been most effective defensively this season, blocking 80 shots and logging 20:49 of ice time, the youngster is still on pace for the first 20-point season of his career.

Tanev collected an assist, had a plus-3 rating, and was credited with a whopping eight blocked shots in Saturday's win over Chicago. Quite the night for Tanev, who now has a point in two straight games and is up to six assists in 21 games on the season. While he is yet to score a goal in 2014-15, Tanev is averaging a steady 20:33 of ice time and should break the 20-point barrier for the first time in his career.

Tanev was paired with Alexander Edler during Vancouver's morning skate on Saturday, and appears as though he will likely play in the Canucks' match-up with the Oilers on Saturday night, the Vancouver Province's Ben Kuzma reports. Tanev was questionable to play in tonight's game after suffering an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's game against the Flames, but now it appears as though the defender isn't in any danger of missing Vancouver's contest against the Oilers on Saturday. Fantasy owners can use Tanev as they normally would.

Tanev (undisclosed) appears questionable to play Saturday against the Oilers. Coach Willie Desjardins wouldn't shed much light on Tanev's condition, other than stating that the defenseman's status would be decided following Saturday's morning skate. Yannick Weber would fill in on the blue line if it's determined Tanev can't go.

Tanev sustained an injury during Wednesday's game against the Flames and will be reevaluated later Thursday. Coach Willie Desjardins didn't offer much insight into Tanev's injury, other than saying that he hoped the defenseman would be available for the Canucks' next game Saturday. Tanev tallied two assists in Wednesday's victory.

Tanev registered a power-play assist and added an even-strength helper in Wednesday's win over Calgary. Tanev had a great game offensively, creating chances and jumping into the play. He was absolutely robbed by Flames' netminder Jonas Hiller on two separate occasions. Tanev did finish the night a minus-2, but he was paired with Alex Edler, who finished the 2013-14 season with the worst plus-minus in the league (minus-39). Tanev is on the rise and should improve on the career-high 17 points he achieved last season.

Tanev has looked very solid in the preseason, making some great defensive plays, while also seeing decent minutes on the power play. Tanev skated alongside Alex Edler on Thursday, recording a plus-2 rating in a preseason win over Edmonton. 24-year-old Tanev isn't expected to turn into an offensive force, but he is likely to improve on the career-high 17 points he recorded in 2013-2014. While the thought of Tanev playing with Edler during the 2014-2015 season seems promising, Tanev may be actually be counted on more defensively in that role, with Edler being the one taking risks offensively.

Chris Tanev has accepted a one-year contract with the Canucks for $2 million but he still isn't feeling the love from the organization. Tanev, who established himself as a top-four defenseman last season averaging 20:44 in 64 games, to a bargain-basement $2-million, one-year deal. The signing came hours before the deadline to file for salary arbitration. There was a feeling from Tanev's side that $2 million would be his ceiling in an arbitration award because he's not a big-time producer in measurable stats like points. But it's nowhere near what the 24-year-old would get on the open market. The key stat in arbitration for defensive defensemen, however, is ice time, and there were two RFA defensemen who've signed in the past year comparable to Tanev. Ottawa's Jared Cowen, with 158 career games to Tanev's 156, averaged 13 fewer seconds than Tanev this past season and put up 15 points. Ottawa signed Cowen in September to a four-year, $12.4-million contract. There's also Washington's Karl Alzner, who averaged 12 fewer seconds and had one more point than Tanev last season. He just finished the first year of a four-year, $1
