Defenseman Chris Tanev of the Vancouver Canucks doesn't like the two-game suspension to teammate Alexander Edler for the hit he laid on Phoenix Coyotes' goaltender Mike Smith on Thursday night. "He was just trying to look Alex off and hoping he wouldn't go behind the net," reasoned Chris Tanev, who skated gingerly Friday on a bothersome right foot but will play against the Los Angeles Kings Saturday. "Alex was just trying to play the puck and Smith happened to be up against the wall. I don't know really where he (Edler) could have gone. They're both big guys and it's definitely a tough play. I'm sure he (Edler) was trying to squeeze through him, but there wasn't much space to move around. Alex was just trying to get his stick. It's just one of those hockey plays, I guess."
