Since a stint in the AHL, Tierney has looked motivated despite slim ice time. He has two goals and three assists in the five games since being recalled.

An awful pass attempt by Dustin Byfuglien on the power play went right into Tierney's skates, then the 21-year-old took the puck straight to a prime scoring area and snapped it up high past a stunned Connor Hellebuyck. With the empty-net helper tacked on, Tierney now has five points over the last three games since returning from his latest AHL stint. He's also averaging well over 15 minutes of ice time in that span, which is an interesting development. Remember, Tierney's been a 40-goal scorer in juniors and a point-per-game man in the minors.

Tierney had an assist, a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes and no shots in Saturday's 7-0 win over Toronto.

It was Tierney's first game back from a short stint in the AHL. It wasn't a knock out performance, but good to see him respond in some way to his demotion, even if he didn't manage to take a single shot.
