Feisty Andrew Shaw has been sent to AHL Rockford because of a lack of consistency, Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said.
Shaw scored five goals in his first eight games before devolving into a minus-8 rating in February. "That consistency is something, as young kids, over time you get," Quenneville said.

Andrew Shaw has been sent to AHL Rockford.
Shaw was given a chance to establish himself on Chicago's second line, but he slipped in the depth charts as his NHL stint progressed. He's still worth keeping in mind during the Blackhawks' 2012 training camp.

Andrew Shaw played on the fourth line on Tuesday.
Shaw was getting a ton of playing time in the latter half of January, but he's logged between 10:05 and 12:44 minutes in each of his last five contests. Although Shaw still has a lot of promise as a guy who could potentially spend over a minute-per-game in the sin bin while still chipping in offensively, his short-term fantasy value has taken a severe hit.

Andrew Shaw led all Blackhawks' forwards in playing time in each of Chicago's last two games.
Shaw logged 21:37 minutes on January 24th and then 21:51 minutes when Chicago returned from the All-Star break on Tuesday. "It's nice (Quenneville) puts me out in any situation," said Shaw. "He's confident in my play at both ends. It just shows that hard work does pay off." Shaw is expected to provide fantasy owners with a nice blend of points and penalty minutes for the remainder of the season.

Andrew Shaw scored a goal and registered an assist to extend his point streak to four games.
Shaw's assist was also the first of his career. He has six points in eight games and while he's not likely to keep that pace up, the fact that he's playing on the second line should ensure that he'll continue to chip in offensively while providing fantasy owners with a healthy amount of PIM. If that's the kind of player that you're looking for, then Shaw is might be the best option not already claimed by a rival owner.

Andrew Shaw has done a great job of filling in for the injured Daniel Carcillo.
Shaw has four goals and five penalty minutes in seven games. "When you look at what Shaw is capable of doing . he can bring energy to his line and our team," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's smart as far as how he plays the game. He's got a pretty good awareness on the timing of (agitating). That goes along with his skills and overall thought process for the game." Quenneville has given Shaw a chance to play on the Blackhawks' second line, and he might end up holding that position indefinitely, given that Carcillo is out for the season. Although he has managed to stay out of the sin bin in six of his first seven NHL games, Shaw should be looked at as a guy who will give you a healthy amount of PIM while chipping in a bit offensively.

Look for rookie Andrew Shaw to play a very similar game to that of the injured Daniel Carcillo.
Shaw is an agitator and has some offensive capabilities as evidenced by his 21 points and 80 penalty minutes in 33 AHL games this season and his two goals and five PIMs in five contests with the Hawks. If you owned Carcillo (out for the season) and you are looking for a replacement player with similar skills, give Shaw a long look.

Andrew Shaw potted a goal in his NHL debut Thursday.
It was a great fantasy debut for the rookie who was drafted in the fifth round in the 2011 Entry Draft as he also managed to fight with Zac Rinaldo. Shaw had 21 points and 80 penalty minutes in 33 AHL games this season so he could be a good fantasy player in a couple of seasons as he will be sent back to the minors when the injured Marcus Kruger or Daniel Carcillo return to action.

Andrew Shaw is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday.
Shaw's promotion came shortly after he signed an entry-level contract. "When I signed (the contract) the other morning (and) a couple of hours later I got a call it was the most exciting day of my life," said Shaw. "A few years ago I never thought I'd be playing my first game in the NHL but it shows hard work pays off." Shaw's previous skepticism is understandable, given that he was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL entry draft just a month before his 20th birthday. Shaw has made a smooth transition from the OHL to AHL this season with 21 points and 80 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Rockford IceHogs. He might turn into a Sean Avery-type of fantasy player, but that probably won't happen for a couple more years.

Andrew Shaw has been summoned by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Shaw's promotion immediately follows him being inked to an entry-level contract. The 2011 fifth round pick might make his NHL debut on Thursday. He could be a valuable source of penalty minutes, as well as a moderate amount of points, in a few seasons, but he isn't likely to play in many games with Chicago in 2011-12.
