Andrew Shaw has played well in his checking-line role with Chicago this season. He has been playing between Bryan Bickell and Viktor Stalberg on the Blackhawks' third unit, where he has four goals and three assists in 19 games. Shaw has also added 15 penalty minutes and 31 hits this campaign. "[Shaw has] really progressed in the middle, and you've got to like his knowing where to go," coach Joel Quenneville said. "Offensively, defensively, he finds a way to be an influence shift to shift."

Andrew Shaw scored the only goal for the Blackhawks as they defeated the Blue Jackets on Sunday night 1-0. Shaw scored his fourth of the season at 18:33 of the second period. Bryan Bickell and Johnny Oduya had the helpers. The Blackhawks have still yet to lose in regulation this season, as their remarkable history-setting run continues with a 15-0-3 record.

Andrew Shaw won't be suspended for his hit on Joe Pavelski on Friday. Shaw served a two-minute boarding minor for his actions. Shaw also fought Ryane Clowe in the dying seconds of the game. Clowe has been suspended pending a hearing on Monday to determine if he left the bench illegally and if he did so with the intention of fighting Shaw.

Andrew Shaw netted a power-play goal in Chicago's 4-1 victory Friday. Shaw also spent two minutes in the sin bin. That blend of offense and PIM should make Shaw a very desirable player as he matures. He's been hot lately, so he's worth picking up and using until he has a few pointless games in a row.

The Chicago Blackhawks' checking line has been holding their own offensively this season. That's not surprising given that Viktor Stalberg, Andrew Shaw, and Bryan Bickell all have offensive upside. Those three have combined for seven goals and 18 points, but they're doing more than just providing some secondary scoring. "Good defense always leads to good offense," Shaw said. "We're just supporting the puck and battling for each other, and good chances have come from that. We have to compete in our own end and get pucks out. They can't score if they're not in our end. We just try to work on that aspect, and go to the net and get some dirty goals." That line's success has played a significant role in Chicago's hot 10-0-3 start.

Andrew Shaw scored his first goal of the 2013 season on Wednesday. Shaw had 12 goals, 23 points, and 50 penalty minutes in 37 games last season. He's struggled early on in 2013, but he has the potential to be a Sean Avery-type player - a guy who can average more than a penalty minute per game while still chipping in a decent number of points. For that reason, we recommend keeping an eye on him.

The Chicago Blackhawks are happy with the play of Andrew Shaw as their third line center. And why not as the Blackhawks are off to a 6-0 start. Shaw got a lot of experience as a third liner when he played for Rockford during the lockout. "Defensively, he's learning his own end - down low in particular," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He can continue to improve, be it his positioning or awareness. His instincts with the puck and around the puck are really good. We should see some growth in his game." Shaw has yet to get a point this season and with only one minor and an even plus/minus rating, we would pass on him in fantasy pools.

With center Dave Bolland shifting from the third line to the second, Andrew Shaw will step into the checking role as the No. 3 center when the NHL's shortened regular season begins today. Usually a winger, Shaw played center with Rockford of the AHL during the lockout to familiarize himself with the position. "I just have to stay focused and play good, sound defense and always be in a supporting spot for both my wingers and the defensemen," Shaw said. "I don't think I'd ever fill (Bolland's) shoes. He's a great player. I just have to do my best, go out there and work game in and game out, and hopefully good things come from it."

Andrew Shaw should get an opportunity to show what he can do with the man advantage. Chicago is searching for a player that can park himself in front of the net during power plays. Shaw averaged 1:35 minutes per contest with the man advantage in 37 games last season. He's likely to get about 20-25 points while averaging more than a penalty minute per game in 2013.

Andrew Shaw notched the go-ahead marker in Rockford's 3-1 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Shaw was extremely impressive in the NHL during his rookie season, putting up 23 points in 37 games, but now he has to spend some more time in the AHL because of the lockout. The Blackhawks' forward has seven goals and 13 points in 21 games thus far.
