Andrew Shaw is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday. Shaw's promotion came shortly after he signed an entry-level contract. "When I signed (the contract) the other morning (and) a couple of hours later I got a call it was the most exciting day of my life," said Shaw. "A few years ago I never thought I'd be playing my first game in the NHL but it shows hard work pays off." Shaw's previous skepticism is understandable, given that he was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL entry draft just a month before his 20th birthday. Shaw has made a smooth transition from the OHL to AHL this season with 21 points and 80 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Rockford IceHogs. He might turn into a Sean Avery-type of fantasy player, but that probably won't happen for a couple more years.
