Steen scored an empty-net goal and added an even-strength assist during Monday's win over Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Steen had registered just two assists and seven shots through his previous nine games, so his two-point afternoon was a welcomed start to 2017. The 32-year-old forward has just four goals, 20 points and 45 shots through 32 games, and his minus-11 rating isn't helping his fantasy stock, either. Steen's best offensive years are in the rearview mirror, and he will have to heat up considerably to match last season's 17-goal, 52-point showing.

Steen is on pace for 45 points this season.
EDGE Analysis
At this rate, the veteran winger will finish with eight goals and 37 assists. Steen does carry a minus-12 rating, but he's otherwise done a remarkable job creating offense despite the offseason subtractions of top-six forwards David Backes and Troy Brouwer. As an added bonus for fantasy owners, half of Steen's points have taken place on the man advantage. He remains a steady but unspectacular fantasy option.

Steen scored for just the third time this season in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Like most of St. Louis' forwards, Steen's offense suffered during the Blues' goal drought earlier this season, but then he got injured just as the team snapped out of its funk. Since returning to the active lineup, he has a goal and three assists in two games. Despite the drop in goals, Steen has a respectable 14 points in 19 games.

Steen picked up three power-play assists in his return to the lineup Thursday, contributing to a 5-4 win over the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
The upper-body injury that cost him six contests was preceded by a brutal slump in which Steen gained just three lonely assists with a minus-10 rating in 11 games, so it seems the chance to take a step back from the ice did him some good. All three helpers were of the primary variety, helping the Blues build a 4-1 lead that they barely clung to. Steen's generally been a reliable point producer when healthy, but his health has often been far from guaranteed. Still, he certainly looked back to full speed in this one, which is a bit surprising, since he was considered doubtful to play earlier in the day.

Steen (upper body) will be back in the lineup Thursday against the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
Steen returns after missing six games with this ailment and figures to slot back into a top-six role right away. Prior to getting hurt, the center was stuck in a 11-game goalless streak and is a minus-10 over that span. Despite his offensive struggles, the 32-year-old continued to log minutes on the power play and will likely do so again Thursday.

Steen (upper body) to play Thursday against Tampa Bay, Tom Timmerman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The designation "doubtful" isn't usually good news, but in Steen's case, it's a sign he's nearing a return after missing the previous six games. He's started to practice as a full participant this week and could be available Saturday against Winnipeg.

Steen (upper body) practiced Sunday but is not ready to return to game action yet according to coach Ken Hitchcock, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
We will be sure to update Steen's status if he is somehow able to suit up for Monday's game against the Stars, but his status appears very much in doubt at the moment. The Blues likely don't want to rush their star winger back into game action before he's ready and risk an aggravation of his upper body injury. The 32-year-old will have four days to rest up before the Blues' next game Thursday against Tampa Bay.

Steen (upper body) will miss a fifth consecutive game Saturday against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Steen returned to practice Friday, which is undoubtedly a step in the right direction in his rehab, but he'll likely need to log several full practices before returning to the Blues' lineup. At this juncture, Steen's status for Monday's matchup with Dallas appears iffy at best.

Steen (upper body) was back at practice Friday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
This bodes well for Steen's chances of drawing into Saturday's game against the Wild. He's missed the last four games with the upper-body ailment, but the Blues have held strong in his absence, going 3-1.

Steen (undisclosed) won't travel with the team on their two game road trip.
EDGE Analysis
That means he likely won't play in the Blues' games Tuesday or Wednesday, so his return will be pushed to Saturday. Originally, it seemed like Steen could return Tuesday, but the injury seems to have been more severe than the initial speculation suggested. The winger had 10 points and 27 PIM in 17 games before the injury, so when he's healthy, he's a valuable fantasy asset.
